Effects Bay

Hello All. Apps are the rage now a days, and I just stumbled across the Peavey AmpKit Link for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The link is the headphone and guitar input interface and is used to connect to your Apple device. Peavey Ampkit is a free app where you can play various effects, changes amps/cabinets and record ideas or play along with backing tracks, etc.

Today, Dean over on the Facebook page, asked me what I thought about the iRig for the iPhone. I remember seeing this a few months ago, but didn’t post about it. I think it’s time… it’s pretty awesome.

The AmpliTube  iRig by IK Multimedia is app that works for iPhone, iPod and iPad. It’s a virtual guitar backline interface that allows you to plug in your guitar and send the signal through amp and effects emulators. You can make adjustments to each effect in the chain and make adjustments to the amp tones. Additionally you’ll be able to select microphones and speaker cabinets.

The app is FREE, but you need to purchase the interface cable that allows you to plug your guitar in and add headphones. Interface cable can be purchased at Amazon for $39.99.

Wow, talk about being overwhelmed! Had a great vacation in Newport, OR and I returned to a flood of emails and my to-do list is.. HUGE. Over the weekend, Griffin Technology contacted me to let me know about a product that the EffectsBay.com readers might be interested in.. and I think they might.

It’s the GuitarConnect Cable for connecting your guitar to a iPhone, iPod touch or iPad and use applications like iShred. I’m ‘assuming’ this could be used with the TC Electronics Polytune’s iPhone app as well, but I cannot confirm. Basically, it’s a 1/4″ input that plugs into your guitar and has a 6′ cable to your device. Cost is only $29.99.
