New Give-Away Contest: Prism I Pedal Enclosure

Today, I’m excited to announce a new give-away, but this time, it’s a little different. Since doing this site, it’s been cool talking to pedal builders / hackers / tweakers / DIYers out there. People that get excited about solder, LEDs and 3pDT switches. If you fall in this group, this give-away should get you excited.  Do you have a broken pedal enclosure, or are interested in changing the look of an existing pedal in your line, well this will be for you as well.

This give-away, I’m not giving away a pedal, but a great pedal enclosure. This enclosure is the Prism I Pedal enclosure by the great company pedalenclosures. Some awesome builders have been using pedalenclosures pedals for years (ie: Cheese Blocks, Dwarfcraft Devices, EarthQuaker Devices, Black Cat Pedals and more).

This enclosure will be in a Silver Vein finish (pictured). The silver vein finish Prism I normally sells for $23.49 and looks absolutely awesome. As their slogan says, “make all the other pedals jealous

Along with the pedal enclosure, Mike from pedalenclosures is giving away a T-Shirt as well. The winner will need to give me their shirt size. Here is a shot of the shirt:

Here is some info about pedalenclosures:

pedalenclosures went on line in December of 2007 with a simple goal.  To provide the best enclosure specifically designed for the boutique industry!

With sales worldwide to builders big and small, pedalenclosures provides the pro-image enclosure to go with your killer design!

So this is a little different, I want to include various aspects of guitar effects, from completed products, to DIY give-aways, etc.

First, be sure to follow EffectsBay on Twitter and/or Facebook to keep up to date with this give-away along with new give-aways.

Fill out the form below, in two weeks  (March 20th) I’ll randomly pick 3 entries as finalists. I’ll email the 3 finalists and the first one out of the 3 that emails me back will be the winner.You must enter a ‘valid’ email address, bounce back emails will be rejected. One entry per person. After the winner has been notified and all is good (I’ve retrieved mailing address, etc), I’ll coordinate with Mike at pedalenclosures to get the enclosure and t-shirt shipped to the winner.

To enter fill out the form below. I’m asking the question “If you had to pick one.. what would it be? Distortion, Modulation or Delay”.

Remember to also retweet this post and help spread the word! If we continue to have success with these give-aways, I’ll be able to offer more and more… and we all love free stuff right?

Gear Pipe Give-Away (Fervor Class Strat Pickups)

Jeremy from GearPipe.com (who has been a great help announcing EffectsBay.com give-aways in the past) just announced that they’re having their first exclusive give-away.

Geoff Moore, a pickup winding guru and the founder of Fervor Pickups has been generous enough to donate a set of his handwound Classic Strat pickups. True to the name, these pickups will give you that classic Stratocaster tone. Geoff describes them as “low/medium-output single-coils with a strong but polished, velvety-smooth tone.”

If you’re into pickup specs, here’s the lowdown:

* Sand-cast Alnico rod magnets (similar to those found in ‘50s-vintage pickups)
* Highest-quality copper coil wire
* Carefully cut black vulcanized fiberboard
* Nickel-plated eyelets
* Standard output: neck – 5.8K, middle – 5.6K, bridge – 6.4K

Normally, these pickups sell for $225, so this is a great give-away! To enter the give away, simply check out the Fervor Giveaway post at GearPipe.com!

Pedal Give-Away Contest :: Mellowtone Trumpet Fuzz Effect Pedal

THIS CONTEST IMellowtone Trumpet FuzzS CLOSED

Hello everyone! I’m here to announce another pedal give-away! For this give-away, I’ve teamed up with Phil from Fat Tone Guitars again and he is generously giving up a Mellowtone Trumpet Fuzz pedal to our pedal give-away efforts! So I want to send out a special ‘Thank You’ to Phil!

This pedal normally sells for $82.99 at Fat Tone Guitars, and this is your chance to win it for nadda!

How do you get a chance to win this pedal? It’s super simple.

First, be sure to follow me on Twitter and/or Facebook to keep up to date with this give-away

Second, you just need to fill out the form below.  The pedal will be mailed directly from Fat Tone Guitars to you!

Here is the official pedal description:

Named for it’s brassy sound when played staccato at low gain, the Trumpet Fuzz is a harsh nasty octave up fuzz in classic form. The Attack control alters the gain and sustain. Max out the attack and get a great sustaining octavia type sound with an octave up that comes through even on the bridge pickup (best results achieved with the neck pickup of course). Turn the Attack control down for a broken guitar sound or play it staccato high up on the neck for some trumpet like tones.

Click here for additional information at Fat Tone Guitars

While we’re on the subject of Fat Tone Guitars, I wanted to let you know a little bit about them!

At Fat Tone Guitars, we love guitars, amps and effects.  We are always on the lookout for new gear to bring to our customers–gear that sounds great and gear that we know our customers will love. We pride ourselves in having the best selection of guitar and bass effect pedals in the Chicago area and the web. Our lineup of stompboxes includes the best of what’s new and the best of what’s tried and true. We constantly talk with our customers to learn what makes their tone. And we are constantly scouring the web and attending tradeshows to learn about what’s hot. Then we deliver.

We also carry a wide array of vintage and pre-owned gear. Check our website often to see what’s arrived. And if you are interested in trading up for some hot new guitar or amp, give us a call as we are always looking to trade.

Fat Tone also has a full service department. In additional to setups, we repair electric and acoustic guitars and tube amps–both new and vintage. In addition to repairs, we also perform mods and upgrades on guitars and amps. From pickups to electronics; from tube replacement to cap jobs.

Fill out the form below, in a week and a half  (March 3rd) I’ll randomly pick 3 entries as finalists. I’ll email the 3 finalists and the first one out of the 3 that emails me back will be the winner.You must enter a ‘valid’ email address, bounce back emails will be rejected. One entry per person. After the winner has been notified and all is good (I’ve retrieved mailing address, etc), I’ll coordinate with Phil at Fat Tone Guitars to get the pedal shipped to the winner.

To enter fill out the form below. I’m asking the question “What/Who inspired you to play guitar?”.  Seems like talking with various musicians, sometimes there is a definitive moment which prompted you to pick up a guitar for the first time. Could be a song, could be seeing a band playing live, could be as simple as a birthday present, etc. Let’s hear it!

Mojo Hand Sugar Baby Tremolo

Today I wanted to talk about the Mojo Hand Sugar Baby Tremolo. Everyone knows about the pedal give-away, where we’re giving away a Mojo Hand Sugar Baby Tremolo for FREE right?? If not, please register to win this pedal on the following post “Pedal Give-Away Contest :: Mojo Hand Sugar Baby Tremolo“. I’m only taking one more day of entries, so please Re-Tweet and Re-Post this give-away. Like before, if we continue to have good numbers with the give-away, I’ll be able to continue to offer more in the future!

The Mojo Hand pedals are crafted by Brad Fee, who also owns and operates Tone Factor. I came across a great post by What’s That Dude Play, where he interviewed Brad and talked about Mojo Hand.

So, let’s get down to the nitty gritty on the Mojo Hand Sugar Baby Tremolo. Let’s use Brad’s to-the-point description: “Inspired by amp trems from years gone by, the Sugar Baby is pure vintage sweetness.”

Here is the official pedal specs:

Inspired by amp trems from years gone by, the Sugar Baby is pure vintage sweetness. The Speed Control works like a brake. The more brake you apply the slower it goes. Depth controls the depth of the throb. It becomes noticeable around 9 o’clock or so on the dial. Increase depth for more pronounced throb or harder chop. Volume can be adjusted via the internal trim pot.

True Bypass Switching
Custom Powder Coat Finish
9 Volt Center Negative DC Jack
Made in USA Construction

I also have a video by ToneFactor:

Again, I’d like to personally thank Brad of Tone Factor.  I’ve been talking with him over the last few weeks about the possibility of a contest for the site, and he’s been incredibly supportive!

Remember to get your entry in today!

Remember, if you like reading about these pedals and seeing videos reviews from others, please subscribe to the RSS feed and get notified via email when there are new postings!
