Yesterday I mentioned that I’ve been interested in the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker and found a  great shootout video. Today I’m about to pull the trigger on this box. I’m really liking the wicker switch and the ability to pull the tone complete out. I also like that you can dial it in for convential Big Muff tones as well. I found a pretty cool deal on Amazon.. I’m thinking some of you might jump on this. I know, I know, this isn’t a pedal, but it’s a pretty awesome deal on a amp. Looking at Amazon this morning, I found another BBE screaming deal. Here is the BBE WAH Class A Vintage 1967 wah. It normally lists at $209.00, but is on sale for $100.96 and ships for free with super saver shipping. That’s $108.04 (52%) off of list price. Not bad at all.

This envelope filter is rad! I think that is the only way I can start with this. After talking about the Electro-Harmonix Micro POG, I got routed into Electro-Harmonix stuff, yet again. But I ended up at the Riddle: Q-Balls Envelop Filter. I’ve always been interested in the POG Polyphonic Octave Generator… besides, that’s really fun to say out loud. It gives you that mad-scientist vibe when people ask you after the show, “What is that red pedal?”. I’ve been curious of what this pedal can do besides the obvious craziness, so I figured it would be cool to see what I could dig up on it. While doing so, I found a great price.. which I’ll mention later.

Basically, in a nut shell the POG is a insane octave box. Traditionally, you’re octave pedals preset the low register of the note, but the POG can give you the upper register as well as the lower, and in combination.  With that, it has a pitch volume. The three knobs in the micro POG are basically level controls for pitch, octave up and octave down. You can get some crazy sounds with this box, but you can tame it and get cool ‘keyboard’ under/over tones, or give your guitar a great bass/baritone tone.

Normally, this pedal lists for $279.00. At Musician’s Friend, it’s currently available for $209.25 + shipping, but here comes Amazon to the rescue yet again. It’s currently available at Amazon for $180.00 + $4.44 shipping.

If you’re after some unique sounds, I can see this pedal being the pedal for craziness.

Here’s the next crazy BBE deal at Amazon. This is the BBE Frequency Boost, which is a vintage treble boost pedal. If you want to get that retro 70’s distortion, this is pretty sweet. It gives a mid-high boost, which can help you cut through the mix for leads or rhythm parts. I’m not seeing this pedal listed at the BBE web site or at Musician’s Friend, so this could be a discontinued line. So if you want one, this could be your only opportunity to get a new one.

Today we have another BBE pedal screaming deal at Amazon. This time it’s the BBE Boosta Grande, which can give you a 20db clean boost. By boosting your clean signal, you begin to naturally overrdrive things behind the pedal.  The BBE Boosta Grande comes with a single knob that adjusts the gain level and a single on/off footswitch to activate the pedal. I can personally see how this could work great in a loop chain in conjunction with a few other pedals, or how it can be used simply to overdrive your amps input.

The pedal can give you 20db of clean boost, it has hardwire bypass switching and can be powered by 9V battery or external power supply.
