BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Stomp Box Pedal at Amazon

BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Stomp Box PedalSo checking out Amazon, I found a pretty stellar deal. This on the BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer. I’ve been looking at this pedal for years. Been seeing it on Pedal Line Friday submissions, and the people that use this pedal seem to swear by it. It’s something that’s got my curiosity peeked for sure.

Well, Musician’s Friend normally sells the BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer for $99, but I see that Amazon has it on sale for $61.13. This pedal ships with FREE super saver shipping as well! I might have to bite on this one.. just to see what it is all about!

I see that BBE is changing the look of this pedal, and this could be a big push to get rid of the old stock. Not sure, but the price is right!

Empress Superdelay

Empress SuperdelayI’ve been hearing about this. I asked the question “Best delay pedal available today?” a while back, and the Empress Superdelay was mentioned several times. Empress Effects has been pumping out some fantastic pedals since 2004ish and have really secured their place as a quality boutique pedal company.

While poking around at Amazon, I found a decent deal on the Empress Superdelay, but first here are the details of this awesome delay:

The Empress Superdelay isn’t your basic delay. Sure it does basic delay sounds, and it sounds better than anything else out there while doing them. But if all you want is a simple delay, the Empress Superdelay isn’t for you. The Empress Superdelay is for musicians who want to be inspired by their pedals, not limited by them.

* Killer Sound Quality – The Signal to Noise ratio is around 105dB.
* 2.8 Seconds of Delay Time – For your extra long delays.
* 8 modes – normal, tap, autoset (delay time is set by tempo played), reverse, rhythm mode (multitap), tape mode, misc (dynamic, gate), and 12 second looper.
* Expression Pedal Input – allows you to control either mix or feedback with your foot.
* High Pass/Low Pass Filter – high pass is good for electronic music, low pass is sweet for darker analog delay type sounds.
* Fast/Slow Modulation – slow adds extra texture, fast is a little crazy.
* 8 Presets – Settings can be saved to 8 presets. With three stompswitches, accessing the presets is easy.
* Tap Tempo with Ratios – many of the modes use tap tempo, and the ratio selection makes fast in-time delay times easy.

Here is a great video by EmpressEffects:

Also, here is a good video about the Tape Mode. There are a few modes, and various videos can be found that covers them all:

Currently (this may change), the Empress Superdelay is available for $432.31 at Amazon.com

Electro-Harmonix Big Muff with Tone Wicker

Yesterday I mentioned that I’ve been interested in the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker and found a  great shootout video. Today I’m about to pull the trigger on this box. I’m really liking the wicker switch and the ability to pull the tone complete out. I also like that you can dial it in for convential Big Muff tones as well. I found you can this pedal for a great price at Amazon, only $73.98 plus $4.50 for shipping. It’s normally $89.25 at Musician’s Friend plus shipping.

Here is the official description of the pedal and the wicker switch:

The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker is a guitar effects pedal that taps into the sonic power of the legendary Big Muff Pi, and creates new tonal possibilities at the flick of a switch—or two. Use the Wicker switch to open up 3 high-frequency filters for raspy, sustaining distortion with top-end bite, or flick on the Tone switch to bypass the tone control for unabated tonal slam. Want the original Big Muff sound? Just switch off the Wicker and turn on the Tone. The ability to create your own personal Big Muff sound is what truly makes this guitar pedal the Wicked Wicker.

Electro-Harmonix XO Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal Features:

  • True bypass
  • The Wicker switch opens up 3 high frequency filters providing a sustain that is raspy and defined
  • The Tone switch completely removes the tone control, providing a devastating broadband Big Muff slam
  • With the Wicker switch off and the Tone switch on, you have the original Big Muff Pi
  • 9V battery included
  • Optional power supply available (not included)

I also found a nice video by EHXCentral showing how the wicker and tone switches alter the tone of the Big Muff.
