Pedal Line Friday – 9/30 – Jeff Bailey

Today’s pedal line is from Jeff Bailey. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedallineateffectsbaydotcom. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 9/30 - Jeff BaileyHey my name is Jeff Bailey. I usually play bass in my bands The Greenleafs and Southern Harmony. My bass rig is just a chord, bass, and 2 tens.  I love to create new music though so I have a guitar rig too.  This is what I use when I just go jam with my buddies just for the hell of it.  I have tried to make it my own and get a sound that is unique. This is my current setup and like many it is always changing.

Foundation: Gator board with gator power supply.

It is just big enough and super easy to move and doesn’t slip and all that kind of stuff.

This is the order

Crybaby classic GCB-95F

Sounds like a wah should.  At least that’s what I think.

BBE FREQ Boost
If you have never used one of these you should. It takes the signal and gives it this awesome boosted mid treble shine that pushes a tube amp into the sky.

Homebrew Electronics UFO
This is my newest and I say the rawest sounding pedal I have.  It has a wall of fuzz that is super tunable and then the octave up takes it to another level literally. It is the true ultimate fuzz octave.

Visual sound route 66
Gigantic.  I don’t mind though because it is a compressor and an overdrive.  The drive side is modeled after a ts808 but adds a bass boost. I don’t use the bass boost all the time but sometimes you just need it. The compressor sounds just like a compressor. Compressed.

MXR Distortion+
This is my core distortion sound.  Its an old one like 78 I believe.  You have to have a dirty amp to work it to the full effect.  It nails 70s distortion because it is.

DOD FX65
An analog chorus pedal for the 80s.  It is the first pedal that I ever bought. (I am not that old I bout it at a pawn shop.) I would recommend it to anyone that was looking for chorus. It is simple and silky.

Electro-Harmonix Stereo Pulsar
So tremolo is kind of my weakness. It is a vibe that a lot of people overlook.  Vibrato you can get from a string shake but tremolo is another story.  This one is variable shape you can have a notchy square wave or a smooth triangle.  You can also change the emphasis of the sound to the back or front of the wave. Very choice. This is where is spilt my signal into my Univox u45. I have a little tuner (not pictured) that I use to shut of the Univox.  If you have never heard stereo tremolo from mismatched amps you haven’t lived.

MXR Carbon Copy
Lastly some echo. I like analog delay and this is the analog delay.  It is super warm and when I want to do a delay solo it can do some self-oscillation.

My primary Amp is a Blues Jr. Tweed and I play a Gibson Les Paul Mahogany most of the time. Thanks for letting me share. It is one of those things that makes me feel alive when I am playing.

Pedal Line Friday - 9/30 - Jeff BaileyUPDATE

Jeff contacted me and let me know that he has a updated board since his submission. Here is a pic:

Pedal Line Friday - 9/30 - Jeffrey Bailey - UpdatedDetails:

I removed the chorus and added a small stone phaser Russian made. I uploaded a pic of the rearranged board.

Ehx sovtek small stone
Its a super cool 4 stager with a color switch that runs a fifth stage that makes it kinda invert and real thick like.  Really simple and adds a ton of cool sounds.

Great Deal on the BBE Sonic Stomp Maximizer at Amazon.com

BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer Stomp Box PedalI’ve done a lot of Pedal Line Fridays and this is one of the pedals I’ve seen somewhat consistently. This is the BBE Sonic Stomp. The legendary BBE Sonic Maximizer in a stomp box. Currently, there is a great deal on the BBE Sonic Stomp at Amazon. The Sonic Stomp lists at $179.00, and is usually available for $99, but is currently on sale for only $70.36 and ships with FREE Super Saver Shipping! That’s 61% off of list price!

Here is the official description of the BBE Sonic Stomp:

Guitarists and bassists have been demanding a foot pedal version of the legendary BBE Sonic Maximizer and the wait is finally over! Many musicians don’t have a spot for the rack mount unit, but long for the legendary clarity, definition and punch that only a Sonic Maximizer can provide. BBE took heed and carefully designed the Sonic Stomp foot pedal which delivers the same amazing sonic improvement as our popular 482i Sonic Maximizer. Other features include hard-wire bypass, non-slip rubber bottom, easy-access 9v battery compartment and included external power supply.

I found a couple of good videos that shows what the BBE Sonic Stomp is all about. Both videos are by BBETV:

Pedal Line Friday – 9/16 – Dr. David Mednick

Today’s pedal line is from Dr. David Mednick. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedallineateffectsbaydotcom. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 9/16 - Dr. David MednickHi,
I’ve been using a Boss GT-10 Digital Multi Effects pedal, but wanted to add into it’s effects loop some stand alone stompboxes, mostly analog. I have: MXR Carbon Copy, MXR Phase 90 Script Custom Shop, ISP Decimator, Tech 21 Liverpool for the Beatles/Brian May sounds, BBE Green Screamer as Tubescreamer OD clone, Digitech Jimi Hendrix  Pedal Modeler, Eventide SPACE for Modulated Reverb with the greatest presets for spacing out, and the control pedal for my Fender SuperSonic 22 FSR in Surf Green.

I am not a musician by profession, I’m a Clinical Psychologist trying to learn and take music seriously now for fun with myself, friends, and just starting to gig a song here and there with my guitar instructor.

Also pictured is my Rickenbacker 381V69 6 string, Fender American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster in Aged Cherry, Fender American Deluxe Ash Telecaster in Butterscotch, and the Supersonic 22 FSR in Surf Green.

Pedal Line Friday - 9/16 - Dr. David Mednick - guitars

UPDATE
Dr. David Mednick sent me a update to his pedal line since he originally sent it to me. A few changes to report, so I wanted to list these below!

Pedal Line Friday – 9/16 – Dr. David MednickI swapped out the Carbon Copy, which was great, for the TC Electronics Flashback, which is much more flexible and is fantastic.  I also swapped out the BBE Green Screamer and added a Rockbox Boiling Point for overdrive and distortion and a Way Huge Swollen Pickle for Fuzz and Distortion, they compliment each other well, Boiling Point is more Tube Screamer like with picking/strumming dynamics, and the Way Huge is much heavier.

Pedal Line Friday – 6/17 – Shane Pachica

Today’s pedal line is from Shane Pachica (@Shane_TheCowboy). If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedallineateffectsbaydotcom. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 6/17 - Shane Pachica
This is my double board

Boards:

Furman sbp8
home made pedal board with electric tape

One Spot w/ daisy chain connected to the furman to power the homemade pedal board

Pedal Chain:

(amp) Crate V33H class A tube head on a Crate V212 cab >
- Line 6 echo park- tons of features, tape, analog or digital delay sounds, swell, dotted eighth, triplets, ducking, panning, and 2 random rhythm modes, tap tempo
- Rogues analog delay- to beefen up solos, cheap one trick pony
- TC Electronics Nova Modulator- my newest toy, unbelievable amount of features, yet can be very simple if you want it. You can have it in manual mode and use it like a single effect, or program up to 18 presets,. You can set each preset to have two different effects at the same time. Modes are: Chorus, Trichorus, Flanger, Through Zero Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, and Vibrato. Perfect for saving space and money if you use modulation sparingly. Tap tempo
- BBE Sonic Maximizer- cleans up the muddiness of any amp, gives life and punch back to your sound. This pedal is ALWAYS ON
- Digitech Bad Monkey OD- great sound and versatility for a very small price
- Vox Valvetone V810 OD- discontinued. Very sweet, transparent, Vox-y sounding OD. Killer looks with its chrome design, and that signature VOX logo. You stay classy San Diego!
- Rogue Compressor- when you need that extra squeeze and sustain out of your solos
- Boss FV50 Volume pedal- for siren swells, or to control the grit on my OD’s
- (tuner out) Korg Pitch Black Tuner- if all I could have is one pedal… The tuner is left on constantly, connected to the volume pedals tuner out, so i can tune with sound, or silently depending on the volume pedal
- Digitech EX-7 Expression Factory- 7 modes, Crybaby Wah, Vox Wah, Digitech Space Station, Digitech Whammy, Unichord Univibe, Leslie 145 Rotary Speaker, A/DAFlanger. Amazing sounds, great versatility, great features, especially for the money. Plus there is a Digitech DF7 distortion factory built inside. Space Station and Whammy alone are worth the price
- (home made FS3X footswitch) allows me to go up or down the modes, or turn on the distortion on the EX-7
- Digitech Flanger- my old langer, no longer needed since i got the Nova Mod. Although, it does have a lot of features including trigger flange, constant fall/rise flange, and a synth-like step flanger
- Danelectro Fish and Chips EQ- used as a mid/volume boost, and also coupled with distortion to get that underwater distortion sound
- Marshall JH-1 Jackhammer Metal Distortion- a very convincing Marshall stack crunch
- Digitech DF-7 Distortion Factory- 7 classic distortion modes that sound fantastic. TS9, DOD 250, Boss DS1, ProCo RAT, Boss Metal Zone, Digitech Metal Master, and Big Muff Pi Fuzz
- Morley Tremonti Wah- ultimate shrieking solo wah

> (guitar) Les Paul Ultra II- Classic LP with quilt top and a Shadow Nanomag
> Acoustic pickup in the 24th fret, w/ stereo outputs

- (not connected) BBE AM64 American Metal distortion

Pedal Line Friday - 6/17 - Shane Pachica
And those are my babies, each with their own individual characteristics. And I know the ins and outs of all of them. Since I play in a worship team at church, I need all my equipment to be very versatile, without compromising tone. I have to be able to get virtually any kind of sound out of my rig. The left board is the main, worship essential board. No heavy distortion needed, just layered OD, and multiple delays with tap tempo. Volume pedal and Space station for ethereal swells, and angel like organ sounds. I guess the second board is for heavier rock. Marshall Jackhammer, EQ and a solo wah. With all my equipment, I get what I want… a lot of versatility, and great tone!

thanks,
Shane

Great deal on the BBE Green Screamer at Music123

BBE Green Screamer SaleHere is another pedal find during the Music123 Sham-Rockin’ Sale! This time it’s the BBE Green Screamer Vintage Overdrive pedal. This pedal lists at $149.00. It’s usually available for $99.99, but is on sale for a great low price of only $59.09. This pedal also ships for free!

Here is the official description of the BBE Green Screamer:

The BBE Green Screamer effect pedal is a vintage overdrive capable of producing a dynamic range of smooth and warm overdrive tones associated with vintage tube amps. The overdrive pedal features rugged construction that can take a beating, thanks to its heavy-duty die-cast chassis. Fat knurled knobs let you dial in your ultimate tone with your toes. The status LED light lets you see the pedal is engaged even on a dimly lit stage. A non-skid pad on the bottom reduces movement, so you don’t have to chase your pedal across the floor. True hardwire bypass switching ensures it has no effect on your tone when its disengaged. The BBE overdrive pedal’s easy access battery compartment is included so you don’t expose your circuitry every time you need to change the battery.

The BBE Green Screamer pedal delivers a creamy, tube-like, dynamically responsive overdrive that won’t mask the tone of your guitar and amp. This pedal has three main controls: Gain, Tone, and Level, and a true hardware bypass switch, and can be powered by a 9 V battery or AC adapter. Use a Green Screamer pedal as a stand-alone overdrive, adding overdrive to a single-channel amplifier. You can also use it as a solo booster also, not necessarily as a transparent solo booster, but a booster that has a midrange characteristic to boost solos or just to chunk up rhythms.
Features

* Vintage overdrive
* Dual Op-Amp design
* Level, tone and gain controls
* 1/4″ inputs and outputs
* True hard-wire bypass
* 9V battery, AC adaptor included

Inspired by the classic Ibanez TS-808 Tube screamer.

Good deal on the BBE BenchPress Vintage Compressor at Musician’s Friend

Good deal on the BBE BenchPress Vintage Compressor at Musician's FriendToday, I wanted to point out this good deal on the BBE BenchPress Vintage Compressor at Musician’s Friend.  It’s currently on sale for only $66.03. Normal list is $149.99, and it normally sells for $149.99. That’s 69% off of list price!

Here is the official description of the BBE BenchPress Vintage Compressor:

The BBE BenchPress is a vintage compressor pedal that was patterned after the long discontinued Ross compressor. Unfortunately, it might be difficult today finding one that’s in reliable condition and won’t cost you an arm and a leg. The heart of the BBE BenchPress compressor pedal is fueled by a NOS CA3080 OTA (Operational Transconductance Amplifier), 1% metal-film resistors and true hardwire bypass for better fidelity, and features an Attack control to offer players more flexibility than the original compressor effect pedal.

I found this video by studio1087. It’s not a review or demo, but the pedal is played in the clip:
