A couple of days ago I posted a video with a interview of Moby (Zakk Wylde’s guitar tech). In that video he mentions the MXR ZW-44 Zakk Wylde overdrive pedal. Today I found a nice bundle deal on this pedal at Amazon.com. For $99 you get this pedal plus you get 2 FREE Structure 6″ patch cables and 2 FREE Structure 18.6′ Instrument Cables. This pedal normally sells for $99, but getting 2 patch cables and 2 instrument cables makes it a very nice deal for the same price. This deal is through GearTree via Amazon, and at the time of this posting, only 2 were left in stock, so you’ll need to jump on it.. if you want it.
Here is the official product description of the MXR Zakk Wylde Overdrive Pedal:
Whether on his groundbreaking work with Ozzy Osbourne or with his own Black Label Society, Zakk Wylde‘s guitar playing is loud, tough, and relentless. Zakk’s take-no-prisoners attitude extends to his quest for tone, too. When he wanted to develop his signature overdrive pedal, he looked no further than Dunlop. The result is the new Wylde Overdrive. This muscular stompbox will turn your clean amp into a heavy, chunky crunch machine. Or, use it like Zakk does and kick it in front of a dirty amp for a screaming, sustaining lead tone. The three simple controls-Output, Tone, and Drive-make getting up and running easy, so you can concentrate on the business at hand: kicking major butt.

I haven’t checked out DunlopTV lately so I thought I’d take a look this morning. I came a cross a episode where they interview Moby who is Zakk Wylde‘s guitar tech and they go over Zakk’s gear from pedals to amps to guitars. If you’re into BLS and Zakk, this is a nice clip of his gear. This video was posted one month ago by jimdunlopusa, but it’s from the vaults (’07).
Pedals on his board at the time of this video:
Zakk Wylde Crybaby Wah
Dunlop Rotovibe
MXR EVH Phase 90
MXR Wylde Overdrive
MXR Stereo Chorus

Not sure why I’ve been on a chorus kick lately, but I’ve been on it. Today, I saw that @jimdunlopusa just uploaded a new video so I wanted to check it out. It was a video on the MXR ZW38 Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus pedal. Another nice little chorus pedal using bucket brigade technology for some classic analog chorus effect.
Here is the official description:
The MXR Black Label Chorus is Zakk’s secret weapon to thicken up his wall of distortion and add liquid dimension and texture to clean passages. At the heart of the MXR Black Label Chorus is its bucket brigade circuitry—the only way to get truly rich and warm analog chorusing. The MXR Zakk Wylde Chorus pedal’s vintage style tones are dialed in by High and Low cut filters and Level, Rate, and Depth controls. For the ultimate in spatial chorusing, hook up 2 amps via the 2 outputs for a wide and sweeping stereo spread. Like all MXR pedals, the Black Label Chorus comes in a heavy-duty housing with durable jacks and switches for a lifetime on the road.
The MXR Zakk Wylde Chorus guitar pedal can be powered by one 9V battery (accessed by removing the effect pedal’s bottom plate), a Dunlop DC810DC brick, or MC403 Power system (sold separately).

This interview of Zakk Wylde on AOL’s Creep Show was originally posted at Ephiphone (read original post), but I thought it was a pretty entertaining interview for a Music Monday morning! Hope you enjoy!

As I mentioned earlier this morning, I was looking at some Zakk interviews. Not sure why.. you guys know how YouTube can take you to unexpected places. So.. either way, I ended up at this video, where Zakk goes into some of his pedals. Pretty light and practical set up.. basically he’s riding with the following:
Dunlop ZW-45 Zakk Wylde Signature Crybaby Wah
Dunlop JD-4S Rotovibe
MXR EVH Phase 90
MXR ZW-44 Wylde Overdrive
Boss Chorus CE-5

So I was looking at a few Zakk Wylde videos/interviews this morning and thought I’d talk about the Zakk Wylde ZW-RR Overdrive pedal by MXR. I think ODs are great to have and I wanted to take a closer look at this one.
Here is the official info:
The MXR ZW-44 Wylde Overdrive Pedal performs like Zakk. Whether on his groundbreaking work with Ozzy Osbourne or with his own Black Label Society, Zakk Wylde’s guitar playing is loud, tough, and relentless. Zakk’s take-no-prisoners attitude extends to his quest for tone, too. His signature ZW-44 overdrive pedal will turn your clean amp into a heavy, chunky, crunch machine. Or, use it like Zakk does and kick it in front of a dirty amp for a screaming, sustaining lead tone. 3 simple controls—output, tone, and drive—make getting up and running easy, so you can concentrate on your chops.
Of course jimdunlopusa has a good video on the pedal. I like that they went with similar riffs to hear the difference.
You can pickup up the MXR ZW-44 Wylde Overdrive for $99.99 at Musician’s Friend.
