Guitarworld just put out a very cool video showing a private tour of Peter Frampton’s live rig. Interesting setting.. possibly in a brewery or winery of some sort. The set up was designed by Mark Snyder, and it’s basically three separate pieces (backend pedals, amps and front end control/pedalboard).
I thought it would be cool to itemize some of the pedal specific pieces. Based on some of the shots of the rack and the Axess Electronics FX-1 Midi Controller, I was able to get a partial list of pedals he’s using. I also cross-referenced some Frampton equipment lists to theorize some of the general labels.
Klon Centar Overdrive
Electro-Harmonix POG2 Polyphonic Octave Generator
MXR M-101 Phase 90
Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer
Voodoo Lab?
FoxxTone Tone Machine
Octavian
Electro-Harmonix Nano Small Stone Phase Shifter
Mutron 1 – Possibly Octave
Mutron 2 – ?
Gig-FX Pro-Chop Tremolo
Digitech Whammy
Gig-FX The Mega Wah
If you have any more information about missing pedals or specifics on general labels (ie: Voodoo Lab, etc). Please comment below!

This evening, I thought I would bring up the Maxon OD-9 overdrive pedal. Maxon use to make the TS-9 Tubescreamer for Ibanez, but in 2002, Ibanez passed this off to another company. With this change the TS-9 changed slightly. At this same time Maxon continued their version under the name of Maxon OD-9. This continues the older style TS-9 with the JRC4558D chip and has a DPDT switch replacing the FET switching. This new switching helps with the ‘tone suck’. The newer Maxons have the 4PDT switch with true bypass.
While looking into this pedal, I came across a great page that goes into detail about the history of the Tubescreamer by Analogman.
So back to the Maxon OD-9. Here is the official factory description:
The Maxon OD-9 Overdrive Effects Pedal may look like your old favorite but that’s where the similarity ends. Improved circuitry with a new chip yields the ultra-smooth dynamic overdrive guitarists crave. Drive and Level controls tweak the intensity and volume while the Hi Boost/Hi Cut tone controls adjust brightness. Features true bypass switching, a die-cast zinc case, and 3-year warranty. From subtle cries to shattering screams, the Maxon OD-9 delivers a huge range of tones.
