Ultimate Boutique Guitar Delay Pedal Shootout

ultimate boutique guitar delay pedal shootoutA few months ago, I wrote a community question asking what the best delay pedal is out there today. There were tons of responses and great suggestions on what people thought about a great delay pedal. Yesterday, @BooDooPerson let me know (via Twitter) about a great video his friend shot at Taylor Barefoot’s studio. This video is a great little boutique delay shootout of some awesome pedals. Two different riffs, with similar settings. Same guitar (1959 Strat) same amp, same mic so you can really hear the differences.

Below are the pedals in the shootout:

Here is the video by Tibbon.. great stuff. Hope you enjoy!

Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai

Electro-Harmonix XO Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai Delay Guitar Effects PedalI’ve been seeing this pedal on a few Pedal Line Friday submissions, and I wanted to talk about this today. Everyone knows that Electro Harmonix Memory Man is a sweet pedal.  But what’s the deal with the Electro-Harmonix XO Stereo Memory Man w/Hazarai? Interesting that “Hazarai” translates to “all the good stuff”. So, it’s packed with some awesome-ness.

Here is the official description of features:

Electro-Harmonix’ Stereo Memory Man Delay pedal is a multi-tap delay, it’s an echo, it’s a reverse echo, it’s a performance looper with tap tempo, and it’s programmable… it’s got all the Hazarai! Designed for the performing musician, the new Stereo Memory Man pedal is destined to be one of the most creative instruments on your pedalboard.

The Hazarai knob is a rotary encoder that allows the user to scroll through the 8 different Hazarai modes. The following is a list of the Hazarai modes that the Hazarai knob scrolls through:

3 Sec Echo
1 Sec Echo
300 mS Echo w/ Modulation
3 Sec Multi-Tap Echo
1 Sec Multi-Tap Echo
1 Sec Multi-Tap Echo w/ Reverse
3 Sec Reverse Echo
Loop

The Hazarai knob is also a push button. Push and release the Hazarai knob to load your preset for the presently selected mode. Push and hold to save your preset into the presently selected Hazarai mode.

Now.. to really put it in perspective, we need a demo, and of course EHX has a very thorough one (andwith some serious head nods):

You can pick up the Electro-Harmonix XO Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai Delay Guitar Effects Pedal for $217.50 at Musician’s Friend.

Awesome deal on Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man Pedal XO at Amazon!

Today I got an email from Matt at CheeseBlock Effects (@CheeseBlocks) and he let me know of a great deal going on at Amazon for the Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man. Please, if any of you run across any great gear deals, let me know and I’ll be happy to spread the word out there.

Normally, the EHX Deluxe Memory Man lists for $418.00.  Musician’s Friend currently has it in stock for $313.50, but Amazon has a killer price of $249.00! That’s 40% off of list price. Awesome deal! Apparently, at the time of this post, there were only 3 units left in stock so you’ll need to jump on it.

Here is the official product description:

The most in-demand analog delay ever built. Musicians love it and collectors cherish it. Experience the analog edge. Nothing can compare to the organic sound of analog delay, and no one does analog like the Deluxe Memory Man! Up to 550 mS of vibrant echo that rivals tape delay; lush, spatial chorus and haunting vibrato are just a few of the treats in the Memory Man’s sonic smorgasbord!

Again, the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man Pedal XO is on sale at Amazon for $249.00!

Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy Analog Echo Chorus Vibrato Pedal

Yesterday, I posted info about the EHX Memory Toy analog delay. I thought it was only appropriate to post the new Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy Analog Echo Chorus Vibrato Pedal as well. This pedal was newly introduced to the Electro-Harmonix pedal line to make the features and quality of the legendary Memory Man more affordable allowing it to be more accessible to more musicians.

Here are the features of this pedal:

  • All analog delay with Feedback
  • Up to 550 ms delay time
  • Selectable Chorus or Vibrato modulations rates
  • Choose between triangle or square modulation waveforms
  • Expression pedal control of delay time or modulation rate (expression pedal extends the range of modulation rate)
  • True Bypass
  • 96DC-200BI power supply included

Oddly, I was not able to find this at Musician’s Friend. Not sure if they’re currently out of stock, but I did find it available at Amazon. The pedal’s list price is $130.90, but can be purchased at Amazon for $98.18 (25% off) and includes FREE super saver shipping.

I found another great video by ToneFactor showing what the EHX Memory Boy is all about:

Electro-Harmonix Memory Toy Analog Echo and Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal

I’m a fan of the EHX Memory Man, I think they sound absolutely great. I’m really excited about the Electro-Harmonix Memory Toy Analog Echo and Chorus guitar effects pedal. It’s pretty new, and I don’t know anyone that personally owns one.. yet, but this pedal is going to be hard to beat for the price ($79.50 at Musician’s Friend).

Here is the official product description:

The Memory Toy presents a pure analog delay for musicians who covet thick sound from a thin wallet. EH melds heritage with select components to present the musician with up to 550ms of delay. Not a toy but a professional tool that bathes your axe with organic depth and dimension. The selectable chorus is a lush bonus. No one does analog like EH!

I found a sweet video demonstrating what the Memory Toy can do. The video is by ToneFactor.

If you personally own this pedal, please comment and let us know your thoughts. I’ll be mentioning the Memory Boy soon as well.
