Brian Biggs of Dance Robot Dance sent me a email a few days ago letting me know about a mod he did on the Electro-Harmonix Stereo Memory Man w/Hazarai. He was curious if I would be interested in what he did – heck ya! He wrote a great post on what he did, and this is coming from a synth background. You can view the full post here. In a nutshell, he mod’d the delay to synchronize the delay time with the beat of the synth. He also added some trigger jacks. All pretty interesting and worth a read.

I came across this pretty great video (posted by dreamsinpolaroid) of Zach Schimpf using a Electro-Harmonix Memory Man w/Hazarai. He’s looping his guitar and playing some tasty lines on top of it. He also lays down some vocals that compliment the atmosphere very nicely. I first saw this about a week ago, and have had that melody bouncing around in my brain for a few days, thought I’d repost!

For those of you not familiar with the Electro-Harmonix Memory Man w/Hazarai, here is the official description of that pedal:

Electro-Harmonix’ Stereo Memory Man Delay pedal is a multi-tap delay, it’s an echo, it’s a reverse echo, it’s a performance looper with tap tempo, and it’s programmable… it’s got all the Hazarai! I stumbled on this video the other day. It’s a great cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody by jreng. Looks like he shows a video clip of each audio source in the song. This thing must have took FOREVER to put together.. both the audio and the video. That’s a lot of work. In the video, it looks like he pretty much uses Electro-Harmonix pedals for the effected signals.

Bob Balch (of Fu Manchu and PlayThisRiff.com) let me know about a video he shot with Ed Mundell from Monster Magnet demo’ing his Memory Man w/Hazarai. I’ve been thinking pretty seriously about getting this pedal myself, so it was cool to see some spacey stuff it’s capable of doing. Ed pretty much stuck with the reverse delay on this quick demo.

I’ve been seeing this pedal on a few Pedal Line Friday submissions, and I wanted to talk about this today.
