Mike Campbell’s guitar tech – Chinner!

Man, I love these DunlopTV videos where they interview guitar techs. Love ‘em! This time it’s a follow up to the Mike Campbell interview, but with his guitar tech, Chinner Winstead. This video will show Mike’s amazing guitars, low wattage amps, pedals, etc. I thought the Vox guitar with onboard wah.. was pretty awesome!

Eric Clapton guitar tech Lee Dickson at Olympic Studios

Right now, I’m sorta fascinated with guitar techs. I really dig builders in the music world.. and likewise, I like the people that maintain instruments and develop that close relationship with a artist. Techs have it rough, since we’re dealing with a *feel* and really need to understand the specifics of the player and with each instrument. It’s got to be a challenging gig at times to dial in the perfect action for the player on different instruments, or maintaining amp settings, effect settings, etc.

Here is a cool video of Eric Clapton’s guitar tech Lee Dickson.

Jerry Cantrell Guitar Tech – Punk Rock Dave

Dinking around YouTube, I came across this video on DunlopTV (jimdunlopusa) where they interview Jerry Cantrell’s guitar tech (Punk Rock Dave). I thought some of you might be interested to see the gear and set up he uses.

Couple of older interviews with techs from the Velvet Revolver tour

So this morning I wanted to find some videos talking about gear of some well known musicians. I found a couple of great videos from Dunlop TV (jimdunlopusa YouTube channel). The first one here is with Adam Day who is the guitar tech for Slash. I thought both were really interesting and worth a watch! They’re both from October 2007.

This second one is ‘McBob’ whos is the bass tech for Duff McKagen
