Free Shirt Wednesday – 10/26 – Divine Noise

Free Shirt Wednesday - 10/26 - Divine NoiseToday’s Free Shirt Wednesday is brought to you by Divine Noise (Portland, OR)! I’m excited to talk about Divine Noise again. I’ve dealt with Gil Divine for a few months. I own a couple of patch cables and a speaker cable… and we’re talking high quality cables. They’re built to last, with solid connections and quality wire and housing.

Gil also understands the requirements for guitarist/bassists. He is also a guitar tech and frequently goes on the road with bands like Yo La Tengo, Lucinda Williams, The White Stripes, Cat Power, Super Furry Animals … And you will know us by the trail of dead. Being on the road with acts like these, he understands the requirements for a quality cable on stage. Failure is not an option. He hand solders EVERY cable and offers a lifetime warranty on all of his cables.

If you’re looking for some cables, definitely give this guy a look. You can see what he’s up to on the web and on Facebook. His cables are also starting to appear at a few dealerships – click here for a listing of dealers that carry Divine Noise Cables.

For this particular Free Shirt Wednesday, Gil is offering to give away a T-Shirt to a lucky EffectsBay.com reader. Simply fill out the form to enter and I’ll select a random winner on Monday (10/31). After the winner has been selected, I’ll get your size, and Gil will ship it out to you. Please ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. This is also open to all submissions.. so international entries are fine.

Free Shirt Wednesday – 9/28 – Musiquip

Today’s Free Shirt Wednesday is brought to you by Musiquip. I was contacted by Musiquip a few months ago letting me know that they’re a an official US distributor of T-Rex pedals and I was happy to meet someone else from the T-Rex family. I think T-Rex makes some great things, I really like how they really try to reach out by sending their pedals out to be reviewed, etc. It’s really hard to beat that type of promotion for your company.

Musiquip is a marketing and distribution company dedicated to the US music industry. They distribute a variety of brands – Tanglewood Guitar Company, AER, Boucher Guitars, JBovier Guitars, Steph, Hiscox Cases and T-Rex Effects. The people at Musiquip wanted to send a t-shirt to EffectsBay to be featured for Free Shirt Wednesday. A few days ago I received the shirt and it was a black T-Rex t-shirt. Very cool. One problem, I already have it. Solution. Why not give it away!

Free Shirt Wednesday - 9/28 - MusiquipSo for this Free Shirt Wednesday I didn’t put the shirt on for the photo, and I’ll be giving it away. Along with this shirt, I figured I’d give away an EffectsBay.com shirt as well. To have your chance to win this shirt (both are ‘Large’), just sign up to the mailing list. If you’re already signed up.. you’re already entered. You can sign up to the EffectsBay mailing list here. I’ll pick a winner in a couple of days.

Thanks Musiquip for sending the shirt!

Now, if you want to be featured on Free Shirt Wednesday.. it’s really quite simple. Send me a shirt, if it’s music related (ie: guitar builder, band, pedal builder, guitar shop, recording studio, etc) I’ll dedicate a blog post about your biz, band, etc. I’ll take a photo with my aging, slightly pudgy mug and post it. Great simple, cheap form of advertising. Still interested? Then check this page for more info

Free Shirt Wednesday – 6/22 – Killer Guitar Components

Free Shirt Wednesday - 6/22 - Killer Guitar ComponentsToday’s Free Shirt Wednesday is Killer Guitar Components! Killer Guitar Components is a business that manufacturers one-of-a-kind components for electric guitars. Components would include tremolo blocks, bridges, saddles, and so much more.

A while back I needed some specific saddles built for a guitar project I was working on, which I wish I knew about these guys back then, it would have been a perfect solution. Killer Guitar Components is a father and son operation where they machine pieces to order. They are located on Gloucester/Magnolia, MA. Their components are machined from brass which look and sounds great!

Free Shirt Wednesday - 6/22 - Killer Guitar ComponentsI found this video by tat2sbylolo where he talks about his KGC brass block in his strat. He is definitely liking his upgrade!

Please check out Killer Guitar Components at their website, like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. If you’ve purchased a component from them in the past, please let me know what you think by commenting below!

Free Shirt Wednesday – 6/15 – Coopersonic

Today’s Free Shirt Wednesday is Coopersonic Audio Engineering! I was psyched to receive a package with a pedal for review and a tee shirt.

Free Shirt Wednesday - 6/15 - CoopersonicIt’s funny with shirts, important to advertise your biz. Get the exposure, get noticed. I liked how this shirt definitely gets your attention. I had to strategically get my son locked on a cartoon while I had this photo shot.. for obvious reason. Thrust. Balls. Tits. Ass. What could it mean? Checking out Coopersonic’s website, it all came clear. These are the controls for his Valveslapper pedal! Clever. I dig it.. I dig it re-al bad!

Coopersonic is from the UK and are making some fantastic pedals, and are starting to really get a name for themselves in the guitar effects world out there. I’m really excited to try out their Dirtbox pedal. We should have a review in the next few weeks for this guy, and I’m sure it’ll perform and sound great.

I’ve been really liking some of these builders from outside of the US. I appreciate their twist on things, and I’m happy to present their pedals to the masses. These are great opportunities to get something in your line, that’s not seen everywhere.

If you have a moment, please check out Coopersonic’s website, like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter. They have a great blog as well, that I’ve been reading.

Thanks for sending the shirt my way!

Free Shirt Wednesday – 5/4 – Armor Gold Cables

Free Shirt Wednesday - 5/4 - Armor Gold CablesToday’s Free Shirt Wednesday is Armor Gold Cables! I few weeks ago I introduced Armor Gold Cables to EffectsBay.com users, and Dustin from Armor Gold Cables was kind enough to send me a shirt (and a cool sticker) for Free Shirt Wednesday this week! If you haven’t checked out the previous post about Armor Gold Cables, please do so – in that post I had a mini interview with Dustin, and it’s interesting. You can read the post here:  “Introducing Armor Gold Cables“.

Armor Gold Cables makes high quality instrument, patch and speaker cables. They focus on medium-low capacitance wire for great tone, hitting the sweet spot of 33pf to get maximum warmth and clarity. Often times cables with super low capacitance will be too trebly, high capacitance cables are too dark, so they shoot for that ideal range. Dustin sent us a cable to test, and we used it on a few upcoming demos, and it sounded great. It wrapped nicely and you could tell it’s durability with the polymer outer mesh on the cable. Plugs were solid, and the tone was as described. Nice.

Here is a demo video featuring the Armor Gold Cable by DolphinStreet:

If you’re looking to pick up a new cable or two, make sure to check out Armor Gold Cables. If you like the shirt, you can pick one up on their web site as well! Want to know more about Armor Gold Cable? Check them out on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter as well.

Free Shirt Wednesday – 4/27 – Floyd Upgrades

Free Shirt Wednesday - 4/27 - Floyd UpgradesI got in contact with Adam Reiver of Floyd Upgrades (FU) and he sent over a shirt for this week’s Free Shirt Wednesday submission. Heading over to his site, I see that Adam has been working with a crazy list of A-List guitarists and their Floyd Rose bridges for nearly 20 years and now is offering some of those upgrades and modifications to the public. When I say A-List.. it would include names like Slash, Vernon Reid, Eddie Van Halen, Mick Mars, George Lynch, etc. Not a bad list at all.

Adam also created the D-Tuner (EVH D-Tuna) system which is a modification to a Floyd Rose where you can easily drop to D tuning. But for this post, we’ll just be talking about the Floyd Upgrades.

Floyd Upgrades has a form on their site where it you can create or build your own FU Bridge. You can specify bridge color, big block size, hardware, saddle inserts, saddles, springs, spring claw, locking nut and add a EVH D-Tuna if you want. On the site you can purchase the individual components as well to upgrade your existing Floyd. You can read about each upgrade component, and read reviews from others as well.

Free Shirt Wednesday - 4/27 - Floyd Upgrades back of shirtAlong with Floyds, Floyd Upgrades also has additional items for sale – EVH Frankenstein Humbucker, Exotic Wood Picks, Acoustic Bridge Pins, etc.

If you have a Floyd Rose bridge/trem system and looking for an opportunity to improve it, definitely check out Floyd Upgrades. You can learn a ton from their site, and also ‘like’ them on Facebook for important announcements.

Free Shirt Wednesday – 4/13 – Caroline Guitar Company

Free Shirt Wednesday - 4/13 - Caroline Guitar CompanyToday’s Free Shirt Wednesday is Caroline Guitar Company! I’m really excited about this company, and our upcoming review of their Wave Cannon. Caroline Guitar Company is a new company offering a great product. The Wave Cannon is a booster/overdrive/distortion pedal, and it’s a pedal their builder, Philippe Herndon, is passionate about. Hopefully, in the next week or so, we’ll have a review put together, but initial thoughts of this pedal… it’s very very nice.

Here it the official description of the Caroline Guitar Company Wave Cannon:

We’re not going to pretend that this pedal is for anyone and everyone. A serious player will find plenty of great sounds with the Wave Cannon that respond to how they play: changing your technique, pick attack, dynamics, guitar and amp controls, pickup selections, and so on will yield a variety of great sounds. While capable of going from stomach-punching levels of boost all the way to waves of op-amp driven fuzz, the Wave Cannon pedal is not for the novice player who expects their gain pedal to do most of the work for them. Nor did we nanny-state this pedal to protect you from yourself; if you crank the drive controls and use a really bright guitar and amp, this pedal will get weird, squeal, and whistle at you.  And we haven’t even talked about the kinds of sonic mayhem that the Wave Cannon is capable of when you flip the Havoc switch!

Here is a shot of the rear portion of the t-shirt where they’re reproducing their laser engraved plate on their pedals (first 125 pedals). I dig the engraved plate.. nice touch.

Free Shirt Wednesday - 4/13 - Caroline Guitar Company (back)I had the pleasure to interview Philippe a little while ago, you can read the short interview here (and there is a great video there as well):  “Introducing Caroline Guitar Company

EffectsBay.com T-Shirts Available!

I’m excited about this, and figured today would be a great day to talk about it! I haven’t had a Free Shirt Wednesday post in a while, so I thought talk about the new shirts today. A couple of weeks ago, I was brainstorming some ideas for a shirt, possibly a series for the site. Something a little fun. I drew up a crappy sketch and had a EffectsBay.com friend (Sonny Hancock) turn the idea into something usable.

Official EffectsBay.com Transistor T-Shirt

In the end, it’s the official ‘transistor’ EffectsBay.com shirt. Didn’t want a pedal on it. No rock flames or skulls. Wanted to go a little deeper. Little nerdier. I had a short run of this printed, and I just picked them up from the printers yesterday. I’m super stoked on how they turned out. I have them available in royal blue (white ink) and maroon (white ink). I’ll be giving a few of these away down the road, and will probably get a few more printed.

If any of you are interested in wearing a big transistor on your chest (it’ll impress the ladies.. trust me), shoot me a email. I’ll be selling them for $14.99 + $5.00 shipping. International orders.. we’ll need to work out some type of shipping cost. Sizes are M, L and XL.

Free Shirt Wednesday – 2/9 – T-Rex Effects

Free Shirt Wednesday - 2/9 - T-Rex EffectsI almost forgot that it’s Free Shirt Wednesday today! But the important thing.. I didn’t forget. Today’s Free Shirt Wednesday is sponsored by T-Rex Effects! If you’ve been following this blog for a bit you know how much I respect T-Rex effects. T-Rex Effects (from Denmark) makes some of the highest quality effects on the market. Probably the most familiar and one of the most desirable effect would be the T-Rex Replica delay.

Recently, T-Rex has been making a strong effort to get more involved with social media (Twitter and Facebook). They have been having some great promotions on their Facebook page where they’re giving away some pedals from their Tonebug line.

T-Rex has really been creating more options for the musicians out there. They still have their standard line, but as I mentioned, have recently launched the Tonebug line as well as some cool upgraded pedals (Reptile 2 and Twister 2 for example). The Tonebug line is their way of offering some great pedals at a lower price point.

Along with pedals they make high quality pedal power supplies (Fuel Tanks) and something I didn’t know until exploring their site – Tonetrunks. Tonetrunk is similar to the Pedaltrain pedalboards – very cool!

Please take a moment and check out their site for upcoming developments at T-Rex – also, be sure to follow them on Twitter and join their Facebook page to have an opportunity to win a pedal.

Free Shirt Wednesday – 2/2 – Mojo’s Army

Free Shirt Wednesday 2/2 Mojo's Army

Wow.. it’s been a little while since the last Free Shirt Wednesday! Remember, if you’re a builder of guitars, pedals, amps or you sell guitars, pedals or amps… or if you’re in a band, send me a shirt! I’ll wear it and talk about what you do. More information about Free Shirt Wednesday can be found here.

Okay, that’s out of the way. This week’s Free Shirt Wednesday is brought to you by Mojo’s Army! Mojo’s (one man) Army is a solo hard rock project based out of the San Francisco Bay area. Mojo (well, I think his name is Mojo) is a former drummer and graphic designer that went the songwriter / producer route.

Mojo’s Army has been a friend of EffectsBay.com for a while (via Twitter – @mojosarmy). He even submitted his pedal line a little while back.

I wanted to check out his blog (MojosArmy.com) to listen to some clips. Immediately, I was drawn to the naked chicks w/guns. Okay, now you have my attention. The first thing I checked out is a video where he covers Marcy’s Playground – Sex and Candy. I’ll include that below. Not bad.. I was diggin’ the NIN style vocals. I haven’t listened to the original version in a long time, but remember liking it back in the day.

In his audio section he has various clips and remixes. Guitar tones are heavy and his compositions are tight. Definitely give ‘em a listen. Personally, this is pretty inspirational to me. I’ve been wanting to work on some type of solo project and I really like hearing/seeing people that get it done. Well done Mr. Mojo.

You can visit Mojo’s Army at the site, on Twitter and on Facebook.
