This morning I checked out this interesting interview on DunlopTV. The interview was with Robert Randolph. I wasn’t familiar with him at all. He plays a 13 stringed pedal steel, and definitely can rock the thing. I was immediately sucked into his diverse playing style. He can go from pristine melodic country twang to gritty rock blues.

In this interview he goes into how he go to play the pedal steel as well as some of his gear, including his Fuchs amp and his ‘secret’ pedals. Here is the DunlopTV episode posted by jimdunlopusa:

Here is a shot of his pedal board, thought it would be interesting to see what he uses. I was able to ID all the pedal, except for one. It’s the baby blue pedal (possible compressor) with the spigot graphic. Looks like it says “WeLoP” on it? If anyone knows what that pedal is, please comment below and I’ll update the post. I haven’t checked out DunlopTV lately so I thought I’d take a look this morning. I came a cross a episode where they interview Moby who is Zakk Wylde‘s guitar tech and they go over Zakk’s gear from pedals to amps to guitars.  If you’re into BLS and Zakk, this is a nice clip of his gear. This video was posted one month ago by jimdunlopusa, but it’s from the vaults (’07).

Last week, @Literate_Monkey asked if I’d seen this episode of DunlopTV.. and I hadn’t. The episode was of Dweezil Zappa talking about his effects set up and demonstrating some of what it can do. Pretty damn complicated set up, but for you gear heads out there.. it’ll be interesting for sure.

Today, I posted the interview with Trace Foster, but DunlopTV also had a interview with Joe Perry himself. In the video they talk about the boneyard slide and how Joe Perry got into slide guitar. I personally don’t do much/any slide work, but thought I would bring this up for others that are into slide.

Today I stumbled onto a great video on DunlopTV. It’s an interview with Trace Foster, the guitar tech of Joe Perry. There are some great gear shots and discussions from backline to pedals to guitars.

Here is a shot of his pedal board (screen capture) of the video:

I was able to break down the board, but Trace skipped a few pedals including a couple I could not identify. The unidentified pedals are the narrow pedal between the Class A Boost and Klon, the pedal left of the Klon and the blue pedal above the G-Lab delay. *Update* Looks like we have them locked down. Thanks everyone!

Man, I love these DunlopTV videos where they interview guitar techs. Love ‘em! This time it’s a follow up to the Mike Campbell interview, but with his guitar tech, Chinner Winstead. This video will show Mike’s amazing guitars, low wattage amps, pedals, etc. I thought the Vox guitar with onboard wah.. was pretty awesome!
