Nice deal on the Boss BF-3 Flanger w/Amazon Store

Nice deal on the Boss BF-3 Flanger w/Amazon StoreHello everyone! I first want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I’m hoping you guitarists/bassists/musicians out there got some sweet gear from the fat man. It’s definitely a fun time of year!

Okay, today I saw there are some good deals on the Boss BF-3 Flanger on Amazon through various Amazon stores. The BF-3 is the *upgrade* to the Boss BF-2 which is still a very sought after pedal. Normally this pedal sells for $130, but I found two stores …

Ace Stores has it on sale for $104.43 with Free shipping.
Capitron has it on sale for $115.00 with Free shipping.

Here is the official description of the pedal:

The Boss BF-3 Flanger gives guitarists and bassists an updated version of the classic BOSS flanger with the thickest stereo flanging sounds ever. Two new modes (Ultra and Gate/Pan) create flanging with incredible depth-—plus slicer-type effects and sounds that seem to swirl around you.

Boss BF-3 Flanger Features:

* The best flanging effects in a compact pedal
* New Ultra and Gate/Pan modes for ultrafat flanging with very low noise
* Momentary mode turns flanging on instantly
* Tap tempo adjustable via pedal
* Independent guitar and bass inputs and stereo outputs
* 5-year warranty

    Newer isn’t always better – especially in the pedal world. IMHO the BF-3’s a DOWNGRADE from the BF-2. I like the sound of the BF-2 much better. An early MIJ version (probably the best of the lot) can be had for as little as $40 – $50 on eBay or some other used equipment sites.

    I recently picked up a older Boss BF-2 (not MIJ)… and I’m really liking that pedal. I’ve definitely heard that the BF-2 is better than the BF-3 multiple times. What would you say is the difference?

    The most obvious difference between the two is simply that the BF-2 uses an analog bbd bucket-brigade delay chip and the BF-3 is your modern run-of-the-mill digital. Me? I prefer the more analog sound. I also have to say, this pedal sounds very good with a bass as well. It has a slight boost in the signal when turned on and is very warm sounding. Even though it’s getting to be an an old pedal, it sounds fantastic and has a mojo that is hard to describe. Did I say the BF-2 can be had for 1/3 of the money? But, YMMV..
