I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with some new Outlaw Effects pedals. I recently talked about the Outlaw Effects Rocker Box (which is really great) and you can read more about it here – “Outlaw Effects Rocker Box“. When they sent that pedal to me, they also sent me the Outlaw Effects Deputy Marshall.
First off, I’ve been really intrigued by the world of mini pedals. I feel there is a major trend moving in this direction. Travel boards are incredibly popular for well known touring musicians that need to fly and typically have large boards. Check out this post about J Mascis as an example. Or it’s about saving real estate on the board. Is your board a bit cramped and want a couple of more pedals – then go mini. The quality of these mini pedals with SMD (surface-mount device) components is super high.
So let’s talk about the Outlaw Effects Deputy Marshall. In a nutshell, this pedal is all about the Marshall plexi tone. Simple controls – Level, Tone, Gain and Bight toggle. This dirt pedal, was once again … impressive. I was particularly liking this pedal for lead tones and boost. It worked very well with clean or dirty amp and loved it with my Jazzmaster.
Here is the official description of the Outlaw Effects Deputy Marshall:
Capture the unmistakable sound of Plexi-era British tube amps that defined the classic rock era.
Full-stack character without the vintage amp price tag.
Gain, Tone and Volume controls allow you to dial in your distortion tone with precision.
Bright/Normal toggle switch offers even more versatility, with beefed-up highs just a flick of a switch away.
The other great point on mini pedals.. the price. You can pick up the Outlaw Effects Deputy Marshall for only $42.57 at Amazon right now. Seriously, that is a great price for this pedal.
