Pedalboards of Mark Gardener and Andy Bell of Ride

It was probably the Fall or Winter of 1991 when I was introduced to the band Ride. The album was Nowhere and the song that locked it in for me – Vapour Trail. At that time I was pretty into the post-punk / goth stuff, and was looking for something heavier, yet with strong melody. Was I was looking for was shoegaze… but that term wasn’t invented yet. Ride was one of the first bands that took me into that direction.

I was extremely excited to see on one of the gear/music related Facebook groups that I was following that someone was able to capture some pedalboard photos of Mark Gardener and Andy Bell of Ride! Because of that, i would like to do a quick write up of their boards.

First, check out this video of their recent reunion tour. This is a live in-the-studio performance at KCRW.

The following photos were provided by Michael Curran. Thanks Michael!

I've not seen a Cali76 that small. Do they make a 6 knob version in that size enclosure?

Going by Andy's blog, said 'uidentified' pedal is a Boss CS-3 compression sustainer. He uses a few different pedals as signal boosts.
