Yannis Philippakis of Foals in the studio

If you follow me on this blog.. you know I dig Foals – the English indie band from Oxford, England. They are an amazing band.. if you haven’t listened to them, take a moment and check them out! I was super excited to see a photo Yannis Philippakis of Foals in the studio. The Foals instagram account shared a photo from Yannis in the studio. I’m assuming.. working on a new Foals material.

I first discovered my Strymon BlueSky after watching Foals in Portland a few years ago and have been following his pedal board development over the years.His board has always been a great blend of delays, reverbs and drives. In this photo, it was cool to see some pedals used in this particular session.

This is what I was able to make out:

Boss TU-3 Tuner
Strymon BigSky Reverb
Foxrox Electronics Aquavibe
Boss DD-3 Digital Delay
Fuzzrocious Rat Tail?

The Fuzzrocious pedal is not 100% identified. Knobs, switches look right. The painting looks right. But not 100% sure. I contacted Ryan Ratajski of Fuzzrocious to see if he could confirm/deny, and he could not verify 100%. He did mention that the band has 4 Rat Tails though.. so it’s a great possibility.

Interesting to see Yannis upgrading the BlueSky to the BigSky. Bigger is better right?
