Pedal Line Friday – 6/28 – Eric Giribaldi

Today’s pedal line is from Eric Giribaldi. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 6/28 - Eric Giribaldi

Here’s a photo of one my boards, set up for two different groups I’m in.  One is for an alternative Indie group the other is sort of a cross between rap and a jamband.  The front row is for my indie band, we have the Boss tuner going into a stock Blues Driver which I’m having modded soon, I use it for a more thick overdrive sound, it sounds a lot closer to a distorted sound than the Tubescreamer does, which is right next to it.  That one is a Keeley modded TS9 that I use as a more subtle but still driven sound.  Sometimes I set the. To stack but when I don’t I use the next pedal there to boost them.  This pedal is easily one of my most cherished, it’s a Keeler Design Two Timer boost, which was custom made for me because Rob Keeler doesn’t make them anymore.  I have a friend who went to school with Rob at UMass Lowell and he had the older version of the TT boost when Rob was making them.  I borrowed that pedal a few times and loved it, so I contacted Rob to see if be would make me one and he did.  It’s great!!! Then I end the chain with a Small Clone chorus that was relatively new in this photo, I wanted something new after my boss chorus so I went with this classic, I like the simplicity of it.  Now the back row is for the rap group and is kinda much more experimental.  As you can see I have both the Giga Delay and the whammy (ala Tom Morello) that I use to pretty much do the whackiest stuff.  I go with the Big muff almost always for my main drive sound, then the distortion plus is there after I heard Billy Corgan mention how he sends a distortion plus through a big muff for lead stuff.  Subtle change but it does work, by itself the dist plus is kinda brittle so I tend not to use it by itself, then that second TS9 is an Analogman mod that I usually have set to a clean boost or slight gain for more lighter tone.  The rap group is just for fun so we don’t really have pages, but the indie group can be found here: www.facebook.com/thecantstanjas or at thecantstanjas.com
