Pedal Line Friday – 12/28 – Tom Warland

Today’s pedal line is from Tom Warland. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 12/28 - Tom Warland

Hi there, thought i’d share my live rig for bass and harmonica.

This pedal board has several inputs going on, my 6 string fretted bass go’sinto the Crybaby Bass 105Q, DOD Bass Overdrive, Input 1 of the MORLEY TWIN MIX.  My Electric Upright Bass goes into Input 2 as I wanted to keep the way and overdrive away from that bass for when I have both in use in a song to save tap-dancing across the stage.  After the Morley the combined signals go to the Korg Pitchblack tuner, Boss NS-2 Noise Surpressor, and the effects loop of the NS-2 goes to the EWS BMC (Bass Mid Control) – this tiny green pedal is a boost to the mid frequencies, the middle ring of the stacked pot controls where the peak of the frequency boost is, and the outer ring is how much boost, great for just helping the bass cut through the live sound for a solo, Then the signal goes to the Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus, Electro Harmonix Micro Pog and then back to the NS-2. After this is the Ashdown Bass Dual Compressor, and finally to the Boss RC-3 (input 1), There is also a 2 button footswtich made for me by Bright Onion Pedals attached the the RC-3 that controls stop, clearing the memory bank, tempo tap, and moving up and down the banks. I also have another one of their footswtiches (far right) for the overdrive on my guitar amp.  The Boss BD-2 Blues Driver is for my Harmonica before going to input 2 of the RC-3 and then out of output 2 to the PA system.

My bass amp of choice is an Ashdown BlueLine EVO II 180watts with a 15inch cone in the combo and an extension 2×10 Ashdown MAG cabinet. this gives me about 230watts of stage volume and then DI out to PA. Bass wise I use a custom built 4 sting upright by ALS guitars, 5 string fretless from Harley Benton in germany, and a unbranded 6 string fretted bass from a small independent company in Northern England.  Harmonicas are Hohner and Hammond going through a SM57.

You can see all of this in action with my band Limosca (www.facebook.com/limoscaband www.youtube.com/limoscaband)
