Noveller – Bouncing Back After Gear Being Stolen

I’ve been on a real Noveller kick of late. I absolutely love the sound-scapes she builds with a variety of effects and her Fender Jaguar.  Sarah Lipstate is the musician in her one woman project – an instrumental project with visual backdrops allowing your own brain to interpret your own story. I’ve been really into instrumental bands and performers for a long time and have dabbled with it myself on a few project ideas, and hope to continue. I recently posted a great interview of Sarah by Eventide – “Great interview of Sarah Lipstate of Noveller“.

On 8/23 after her WFMU performance, some ass broke into her car and stole her pedal board and Sunn head. Having this site, I know what it takes to find the pedals you want… and purchase those pedals. Some are cheap, while others may be rare and hard to come by, or just plain expensive and financially difficult to replace. I was super bummed to read about this, but I was glad the guitar was not stolen. Even though pedals and amps are critical, it never gets more personal than the contact between your hand and the instrument. A new instrument would require building a new relationship.

After she posted the theft, something amazing began to happen. People began to share the post and the watchers began to watch, but to have stolen gear returned is very difficult. There was outreach from various musicians and builders to help Sarah rebuild her board. Donations and Bandcamp purchases increased to help the process as well. Before she knew it, her board was replaced and better than ever.
