Steve Turner of Mudhoney – Pedals!

Oh man.. Mudhoney. This is a great band. And we don’t even need to get into the details about this band being one of the early pioneers of the Seattle grunge movement. I remember the first Mudhoney song I heard – Touch Me I’m Sick. Loved it back in the day, Steve Turner, responsible for lead guitar for Mudhoney has that nasty/aggressive style that sucks you in. When I think of his style I think throaty and fuzzy guitar.

I’ve been seeing more and more Mudhoney lately – and I love it. Seems like what started the resurgence for me was this crazy performance on top of the Space Needle in Seattle for a live KEXP performance. Personally – I would have a hard time performing like this. Heights.. aren’t my favorite thing.

But.. just recently, I found this shot of Steve Turner’s set up on Instagram. The photo is by Otis Bartholomew (@otisserie) who I first saw in Octagrape a few years ago (Otis plays bass in that band among other music related duties). If you like gear.. I would follow him on Instagram. Awesome stuff. Otis.. thanks for letting me repost this shot!

Steve Turner of Mudhoney - Pedals!

Steve Turner’s Pedals:

Peterson Strobostomp Tuner
DOD 250 Overdrive/Pre-Amp Reissue
Electro-Harmonix Little Big Muff
Vox V847A Wah
MXR Micro Amp

This is what Otis said – “Steve Turner of Mudhoney Feet and his Simple yet very Effective signal chain of effects. Steve told me he prefers the Current Electro Harmonix Little Big Muff to his past vintage model. Mudhoney, Ohana Fest, Dana Point, Calif. Photo By O.”

I would agree 100% Simple yet effective. Drive, Fuzz, Boost and Wah. What more would you need?

I really love Mudhoney. I own a Big Muff PI, and a Vox wah myself. I have an MXR Distortion + in lieue of the DOD – they are based on the same op amp design and are very similar in sound.

I have some more pedals but I am Mudhoney cover ready 🙂
