John ‘Sco’ Scofield is a fantastic guitarist from Dayton, OH who has played with the best of the best in the world of jazz fusion, funk, blues, etc. He’s currently playing with Gov’t Mule which they’re labeling as the Sco-Mule tour. On Twitter, @VertextEffects tweeted a photo of John Scofield Pedalboard and was kind enough to let me repost the photo and to talk about it on this post.
Here is the photo of John Scofield’s Pedalboard:
Here is the breakdown of pedals on that board:

To This day I keep asking myself why/how could I sell my XP100 Whammy-Wah!!!! Same for the XP300 Space Station. OK: back then I wasn’t very into guitar textures and stuff like that. Today I wish I could make some noise with both of them connected…

The board doesn't look configured for ease of use, tapdancing-wise. I realize that several of the devices are there for signal routing or massaging; but even taking that into account, I wonder if he leaves several of the pedals always on and just mostly manipulates the Wah and the Whammy? The sound quality of the YouTube sample makes it difficult to hear which effects are running and which are not.

Vertex is way overpriced and Mason the owner recently came under fire for shoddy business practices. Most professional who were using his gear have cut ties and shed his gear. Empress makes a much better buffer interface, AND do it for $149 not $550…
