Pedal Line Friday – 8/16 – Jake Davis

Today’s pedal line is from Jake Davis. Hello my name is Jake and thank you for taking the time to look at my board! Finding just the right combination of pedals and set ups has been a long (and expensive) process. I wouldn’t trade what I have for the world though. I’m currently writing songs and making connections for people to collaborate with in the studio. I play mainly blues rock but with a good bit of pink floydiness sprinkled in. Enough of this chit chat though lets get to the meat and potatoes shall we?

Pedals in order of appearance:

1. Snark tuner– tunes. Enough said.

2. Jetter jet drive– oh man…where do I even begin with this pedal. It is the most crucial part of my tone. It’s that good. I have the gain on the right set at a low to medium setting and the gain on the left set to a medium gain. Then when I run them together I get great lead tones. Perfect pedal.

3. Digitech EX-7– ok you may have been like me and thought upon seeing this pedal “ewww digitech? That’s not boutique. Digital effect processing? Those sound awful!”. Well if you were like me and thought that you would have been wrong like I was. Granted none of these effects are the best versions of the effect I’ve ever heard but every one is far from bad. It’s worth it for the space station mode and the whammy alone! Throw on top of that a ada flanger, a rotary speaker, a univibe, and two wah modes and you have a keeper!

4. Moogerfooger murf– this is one of those pedals I got so it could lead people into a bedroom of sound and start whispering strange sexy noises in their ears. If that description sounds weird then you would be right. If you’ve ever heard the pedal though you know that it is a very accurate description. Part phaser, part tremolo, part auto wah, part alien. If this thing is a pedal only a mother could love you’ll be wishing you were a mother. If you are already a mother then…you’re welcome.

5. Not shown in the picture is a sitori sonics reel repeat. It’s a delay pedal by a local builder and shop owner. Very nice sounding analog tape sounding echo. The reason it isn’t pictured is because I have a musicman 75 head that doesn’t have reverb. So to fill in the space I added delay. Well I don’t like my delay going straight into my amp because I feel like it kind of sits right on top of the mix. So I jump between the bass channel and the normal channel on my amp with the delay between them. That way it only affects the normal channel and helps it blend into the mix better.

6. My pinkish purpleish haze light of hazyness- I know it isn’t actually part of my signal path. It is, however, awesome. So I thought I’d give it a quick shout out 🙂
