Guest Post: How to Choose a High-Quality Effect Pedal

When purchasing an effect pedal, it’s important to invest your money in a product that you’re confident will last for many years to come. It can be really difficult to find a pedal that is reasonably priced but is also assembled with quality materials. That’s why I’m here to give you some tips to help you on your search for a high-quality effect pedal.

Purchase from a reputable company

How to Choose a High-Quality Effect PedalThe reputation of a company is an indication of what you can expect from their products. It’s SO important to research the company you’re planning on purchasing from, so make sure you read tons of reviews. If a large majority of user reviews are negative, then RUN! You don’t want to get stuck with a pedal you’re not happy with. Sometimes, spending a bit more on a pedal will give you a product that will sound great for a much longer period of time.

If you know musicians who own pedals from the company you’re interested in, be sure to ask them how their experience with the product has been. By doing this, you’ll be sure you’re getting a truthful account of how the pedal has performed. If the pedal broke after only a few months, you might want to consider more of a high-quality effect pedal.

Check for a warranty

How to Choose a High-Quality Effect PedalI often find that companies who are willing to give their customers a warranty are typically confident that their products won’t break down quickly. The longer the warranty, the more you can be sure that you’re in good hands. For example, Red Panda Labs offer one-year warranties on their products, and I haven’t heard of any musicians needing to return their pedal after their purchase.

Keep in mind that a warranty isn’t the only indicator of a high-quality effect pedal. If you’re considering buying a pedal from a company that doesn’t offer any kind of warranty, you don’t necessarily need to knock them off your list right away. You do, however, need to make sure you do a ton of research on how satisfied other musicians are with the product. Try reading some reviews from blogs that seem legitimate so you can get an accurate idea of what you’ll be investing in.

Test-Drive

How to Choose a High-Quality Effect PedalOf course, one of the most important parts of a high-quality pedal is how well your music will sound when you use it. Head over to your nearest music store and ask if you can test out the product you’re interested in. If you aren’t able to go to a music store, be sure to watch a lot of demo videos on YouTube. Quality demo videos will give you a good idea of all the pedal is capable of since they’re created by experienced musicians that will take viewers through all of the pedals functions. Check out this great instructional video about the Brothers pedal by Chase Bliss Audio for example.

Hopefully, these tips will help you on your search to find a high-quality effect pedal. If you want to read more about how to choose the perfect pedal for you, follow this link. Before you purchase, make sure you’re confident in the product you’re buying, and be sure to enjoy your new effect pedal!
