Pedal Line Friday – 9/11 – Seb Przybylski

Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Seb Przybylski. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal Line Friday - 9/11 - Seb Przybylskithe music i play is the punk, hardcore of the 90s, think universal order of armageddon, swiz, melt banana, born against,.. i know these are small bands so maybe its easier to compare to the noisiest songs on “in utero” with a bit more aggression/experimentation. a lot of dischord, off time, unorthodox song structure. its more of higher pitched riffs, very un-metal, with that said i prefer silicon to germanium fuzz pedals. which is what the RED WITCH – FUZZGOD 2 is. an incredible silicon beast of a fuzz pedal from a great company. you can coax some octave jumping, oscillating squeals to a more “pleasant” fuzz sounds of yesteryear. it has 2 stomps for awaken (which is the end of all we know in the stomp of a switch!) and on/off. 2 toggles with a lighting bolt and an ear, i could go on and on describing this pedal so if i have caught you’re interest watch the explanatory demo from red witch. i recommend it highly!  i’m sure i only have so much space to type here

the EHX – FREEZE is an interesting fun pedal, great for bands with one guitarist. those moments where you wish you could let a note ride out a bit longer but the option does not present itself is where this pedal comes in. 3 modes – LACTH, FAST, SLOW via 3 way toggle allows your footswitch to be latching or momentary with a slow or fast decay. its not a loop, it just locks notes. can really add quite a bit to your songs.

the RAINGER FX – DR FREAKENSTEIN FUZZ – is quite a unique best of its own from amazing visuals to almost obscene madness. the led in the meter flashes according to the rate knobs speed settings. the toggle switch turns the modulation on/off, there is a control for the oscillation and in the back there is a HI/LOW button which almost acts like a bass boost or treble boost. and there is also 2 jacks in the back (one jack for osc. and one for mod range) for that round pad in front of the pedal called IGOR. you simply step on the pad like a wah that doesn’t rock back and forth. you can use one or the other at a time but not both obviously. its a bit on the thick side of fuzz tones, and its definitely NOT an “on all the time” pedal but when its appropriate it absolutely slays! and YES! THAT IS A KNIFE SWITCH!

i almost forgot..there are 2 LEDs under that knife switch that shine on the knobs for indication! hows that for ingenuity?! i could turn this thing on and just watch it for a while. the coolest looking pedal i’ve ever seen with the sounds/features/functions to match!

MXR “SLASH” OCTAVE FUZZ -  i don’t like slash or guns and roses, but the good news is you don’t have to to enjoy this pedal! its not the same sub octave circuit as the blue box. but it is the only octave fuzz i’ve ever played/owned so i don’t have a comparison. but i will say i absolutely love it.  you have up, down, sub into fuzz, controls for both octaves and the option to run dry/clean octaves or sub into fuzz wakes it right up real fast. the way i have described it before is that it makes my guitar sound like a machine of some sort! some internal trim pots for fuzz gain and octave up intensity. i had no intentions of walking out of the store that day with an octave fuzz but the sub octave has become my favorite effect so far hands down!

SATURNWORKS – TRUE BYPASS LOOP – just a simple passive true bypass pedal in a small 1590a that allows you to control all or groups of pedals from one stomp. also allows you to stomp on that all day long instead of abusing your $2-$300 pedals. you can also build one of these for under 20 bucks and a lil work. this company makes all the switching, looping, A/B,A/B/Y, all that stuff you need.almost like toys for pedals. just ask jay-z’s guitarist. hell tell ya

ORANGE FS-2 FOOTSWITCH -  self explanatory but if this is a new world for you, ill tell you what it does. its a control for my twin channel head that selects between the clean and dirty channel as well as reverb on/off, connected to the back of your head/amp. that simple.

VOLTAGE SAG – I made this one. for use on 9 volt analog pedals that play well wit voltage sagging. like rats or muffs. it didn’t work on my terminal fuzz but does work on my red witch, but the pedal already has a built in control for voltage sagging so it doesn’t get much use at the moment. i was a fun easy build though. i used one of the alpha clear pots with a blue LED so the clear knob glows blue when on.
