EC Pedals Zombie Distortion Demo

When this pedal arrived from Israel, I plugged it in. My first response.. this pedal is mean. Very mean! We’re talking about the EC Pedals Zombie Distortion!

EC Pedals Zombie Distortion DemoLet’s first talk about EC Pedals. This is the brain child of Eldar Cohen, and like I mentioned, is based out of Israel! EC Customs has been a long time friend/supporter of EffectsBay and I was stoked that they sent over a pedal to demo. EC Customs prides themselves on top shelf components and making excellent sounding pedals that are built to last. Definitely spend a minute or two and check out their other great pedals at ECPedals.com

When it comes to distortion pedals – simplicity is the key. EC Pedals got it right with this one. Controls include ‘tone’ and ‘level’ with gain toggle labeled ‘zombie’ or ‘zombies’. Love it. The gain toggle on ‘zombie’ will give you a medium gain level.. while ‘zombies’ unleashes the full gain. I was constantly drawn to ‘zombies’ myself. Tone really allows you to tailor the type of distortion you want from dirty/stoner to bright/in-your-face lead type tones. All levels on the tone were very usable! Level is as you would expect.. gives you the volume of the pedal.

For this demo, we have Jimmy Rolle playing is Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Elegant into a Germino HR100 Head through a Orange 4×12 cabinet (w/Celestion Heritage G12H30 75hz). There is nothing between the guitar and the amp except for the EC Pedals Zombie Distortion. It is important to note that the Germino HR100 is a non-master volume amp. Audio was recorded with a Fathead Ribbon Mic and a Shure SM7B, both close mic’d.

You can listen to the high quality MP3 clips via SoundCloud

As you can see/hear, the EC Pedals Zombie Distortion is a great sounding pedal… with some fury. I can see fitting in many genres of music as well as many different application to leads, to rhythm, etc. If you’re looking for a great sounding distortion pedal, this one is worth a very close look. You can pick up the EC Pedals Zombie Distortion for $199 at EC Pedals!
