Eventide Space Reverb

Eventide Space Reverb Guitar Effects PedalAs I’ve mentioned in the last few days, I’ve been on a reverb kick. Today @librasociety asked what I thought about the Eventide Space Reverb that was first seen at NAM 2011. I didn’t know much about it, besides the fact that Eventide was pumping out a reverb unit for the floor. They already have some well known rack reverbs out there. My initial response was I’m sure it’ll be well received and I’m sure it’ll sound awesome. The Eventide Time Factor delay is always mentioned in our various delay discussions on the site, and we know it’s one of the top delays out there today. I’m sure the same will happen with the reverb.

I thought I would do some digging and researching to see what I could find out. The Eventide Space Reverb will be available on 3/31/2011 in the US, and is currently available for pre-order for $499.00 (lists at $579.00) at Musician’s Friend. In a nutshell, the reverb takes 12 Eventide reverb algorithms from their popular rack units and gets them in a foot controlled enclosure. There are 100 presets and 10 knobs for control the various aspects of the pedal. The pedal has three footswitches (active, hotswitch and tap). Hotswitch and Tap will allow you to bank up and down through the presets. The 10 knobs include Mix, Decay, Size, Delay, Low EQ, High EQ, Xnob, Ynob, FxMix and Contour.

This unit definitely goes beyond standard reverb. It allows the combination of various effects, has ‘freeze’ capability, reverse reverb, modulation and the ability to harmonize. There are some amazing weird creepy tones this thing can make.

Here is the official description of the Eventide Space Reverb

The Space from Eventide presents an unprecedented collection of reverb algorithms combined with delays, pitch shifting, tremolo, modulation, and special effects in a compact pedal.

Space features 12 of Eventide’s signature reverb combination effects taken from the H8000FW and Eclipse V4, along with some startling new magic! These unique effects, previously available only in Eventide rack processors, are now available in a compact, roadworthy pedal.
