I currently use the Line 6 DL 4, which is great, but for some reason, I have a hard time linking up with it. I think it comes down to simple ease of use or something. Presets are great and important, but I almost prefer straight knobbies or something. I don’t know. It’s a personal issue.. which I need to work on.

So far, my short list of delays is T-Rex Replica, Deluxe Memory Boy, MXR Carbon Copy.. and possibly the Analog Man ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay. I like the fact there are two bays of pots and two footswitches to control which delay mode you’re in.

Here is the official description:

The Analog Man ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay pedal is a hand-wired pedal with two selectable settings of delay time, feedback, AND delay level, not just delay time! Also has effects loop for modulation, and expression pedal jack for delay time.

Features
1. True bypass switching, the right side foot switch is effect ON/OFF.
2. Two sets of controls, not only delay time but also delay level and feedback YELLOW channel (upper 3 knobs) or RED channel (lower 3 knobs) are selected with the left foot switch.
3. Battery or normal 9V boss type power. Power jack in the center top.
4. Battery compartment on the bottom for quick and easy battery changes
5. Low power consumption, 15mA, so an alkaline battery should last about 30 hours of use.
6. Jacks are on the top of the pedal for efficient layout on pedalboards
7. Input jack on the right, unplug to disconnect battery
8. Output jack on the left

I found another gearmanndude video demo’ing the Analog Man ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay (minus the foot controller). It’s not the most exciting demo, but it shows what this pedal can do, and how the analog tone sounds.

This morning while checking my Twitter account, I saw a reply by @AntonOortmann asking me if I already noticed the rumor about the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Boy pedal. That was interesting because just yesterday I saw mention of it, but thought it was a typo misprint. After seeing @AntonOortmann‘s reply, I thought I’d dig further.

Looks like the rumors are true, that Electro-Harmonix will be releasing this pedal in the future, and is already in their print catalog. Here is a screen snap of the page:

This is pretty exciting. The item that caught my eye is the tap tempo delay and effects loop. Should be a great pedal. I’ll be sure to post more once I find out more!

Remember, if you like reading about these pedals and seeing videos reviews from others, please subscribe to the RSS feed and get notified via email when there are new postings!

So, I’ve been noticing that the site has been getting a lot of hits from search engines related to my Electro Harmonix Memory Toy and Electro Harmonix Memory Boy posts. I wanted to find some better comparisons (especially up against the Electro Harmonix Memory Man), but I found this great video from the Summer NAMM 2009 show at the Electro Harmonix booth.

It features a demo of the Memory Toy, Memory Boy, Cathedral and something really new to me, the 22 Caliber power amp (as a pedal).

This pedal was newly introduced to the Electro-Harmonix pedal line to make the features and quality of the legendary Memory Man more affordable allowing it to be more accessible to more musicians.

Here are the features of this pedal:

All analog delay with Feedback

Up to 550 ms delay time

Selectable Chorus or Vibrato modulations rates

Choose between triangle or square modulation waveforms

Expression pedal control of delay time or modulation rate (expression pedal extends the range of modulation rate)

True Bypass

96DC-200BI power supply included

Oddly, I was not able to find this at Musician’s Friend. Not sure if they’re currently out of stock, but I did find it available at Amazon. The pedal’s list price is $130.90, but can be purchased at Amazon for $98.18 (25% off) and includes FREE super saver shipping.

Here is the official product description:

The Memory Toy presents a pure analog delay for musicians who covet thick sound from a thin wallet. EH melds heritage with select components to present the musician with up to 550ms of delay. Not a toy but a professional tool that bathes your axe with organic depth and dimension. The selectable chorus is a lush bonus. No one does analog like EH!

I found a sweet video demonstrating what the Memory Toy can do. The video is by ToneFactor.
