Christian at Cubist Effects as a new mod available. This mod is the Memory Boy Expression Mod. The Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy has an expression pedal option which controls the delay time or rate of modulation.  Christian decided to provide the expression control as a knob vs. using a expression pedal. This will free up some space on the board. The knob is large, so you can still manipulate it with your foot.

Just like fuzz pedals, I’ve been on a hunt for a different delay in my set up. I currently use the Line 6 DL 4, which is great, but for some reason, I have a hard time linking up with it. I think it comes down to simple ease of use or something. Presets are great and important, but I almost prefer straight knobbies or something. I don’t know. It’s a personal issue.. which I need to work on.

So far, my short list of delays is T-Rex Replica, Deluxe Memory Boy, MXR Carbon Copy.. and possibly the Analog Man ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay. I like the fact there are two bays of pots and two footswitches to control which delay mode you’re in.

The Analog Man ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay pedal is a hand-wired pedal with two selectable settings of delay time, feedback, AND delay level, not just delay time! Also has effects loop for modulation, and expression pedal jack for delay time.

I found another gearmanndude video demo’ing the Analog Man ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay (minus the foot controller). It’s not the most exciting demo, but it shows what this pedal can do, and how the analog tone sounds.

This morning while checking my Twitter account, I saw a reply by @AntonOortmann asking me if I already noticed the rumor about the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Boy pedal. That was interesting because just yesterday I saw mention of it, but thought it was a typo misprint. After seeing @AntonOortmann‘s reply, I thought I’d dig further.

Looks like the rumors are true, that Electro-Harmonix will be releasing this pedal in the future, and is already in their print catalog. Here is a screen snap of the page:

This is pretty exciting. The item that caught my eye is the tap tempo delay and effects loop. Should be a great pedal. I’ll be sure to post more once I find out more!

So, I’ve been noticing that the site has been getting a lot of hits from search engines related to my Electro Harmonix Memory Toy and Electro Harmonix Memory Boy posts. I wanted to find some better comparisons (especially up against the Electro Harmonix Memory Man), but I found this great video from the  Summer NAMM 2009 show at the Electro Harmonix booth.

It features a demo of the Memory Toy, Memory Boy, Cathedral and something really new to me, the 22 Caliber power amp (as a pedal).

Yesterday, I posted info about the EHX Memory Toy analog delay. I thought it was only appropriate to post the new Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy Analog Echo Chorus Vibrato Pedal as well. I’m a fan of the EHX Memory Man, I think they sound absolutely great. I’m really excited about the Electro-Harmonix Memory Toy Analog Echo and Chorus guitar effects pedal. It’s pretty new, and I don’t know anyone that personally owns one.. yet, but this pedal is going to be hard to beat for the price ($79.50 at Musician’s Friend).
