I was excited to receive another TONEbUTCHeR pedal in the mail. The PocketPus was a really exciting demo and give away so it’s great to follow up with something new. Huck at TONEbUTCHeR sent over a new ‘micro pedal‘ called the WeeWah demo.

As with all of TONEbUTCHeR pedals, no instructions are provided. It’s about experimentation and creativity. Letting your ears and imagination guide you instead of the instruction.  In a nutshell, this is an envelope filter (vactrol based). The pedal is very reactive and sensitive to how you play the instrument. Basically two knobs and toggle switch to manage the sweep direction. These *micro* pedals are TINY for sure. The PocketPus has a very small battery, but the WeeWah has an adapter.

Today, I saw that Electro-Harmonix posted a video review by jazzlavchannel of the Electro-Harmonix Bassballs. I thought it would be cool to spread the word out as well. Nice video showing what this pedal can do from a music demo point of view. I also liked that there are four bass tracks demonstrating various aspects of bass playing with the Bassballs (lead, rhythm, etc).

I’ve been doing some research on envelope filters for a potential new build project for a friend. Saw this post at the EHX Blog today, thought it was really cool.  At the blog they posted the following YouTube videos where one is a Enigma Q Balls on a full kit and the other is a Holy Grail Reverb just on the snare. Last week I received an email asking me about the Pigtronix EP2 Envelope Phaser.  I wasn’t familiar with the EP2, I’ve heard of the EP1, but not the EP2, so I wanted to take a look. Today, I wanted to give another shout out to the bass players out there. So today we’re talking about the Electro-Harmonix Nano Bassballs Envelope Filter for bass.  This is another pedal in the new Nano configuration, and it has a pretty cool effected tone. Basically a envelope filter with a little fuzz (maybe not fuzz.. but harmonic distortion) mixed in. I could see this used for some great bass tones and craziness. This envelope filter is rad! I think that is the only way I can start with this. After talking about the Electro-Harmonix Micro POG, I got routed into Electro-Harmonix stuff, yet again.
