I’ve been a big fan J Mascis and Dinosaur Jr. for a long, long time. Primarily because his style of guitar playing is completely identifiable and unique – and as a guitar player myself and assuming you, that should be one of our goals. To have our own voice.
When I think of Mascis, I think Jazzmaster. I think Marshall stacks. I think fuzz. What do you think of?
I came across a couple of interesting photos by Otis of Mascis’ pedalboards. One shot is his main board, but the other is interesting. It’s Mascis’ “mini” board. He recently played with Pearl Jam at Wrigley field and needed a ‘small’ set up. I thought it was cool to see the essentials broken down.
The photos are by Otis Bartholomew (@otisserie) who I first saw in Octagrape a few years ago (Otis plays bass in that band among other music related duties). If you like gear.. I would follow him on Instagram. Awesome stuff. Otis.. thanks for letting me repost these shots! Otis is also on the road with Dinosaur Jr. and that’s how we got a peek of these boards.

UPDATED – Thanks everyone for the quick response. Pedals have been identified!
Also, let me know what you think of the boards, J. Mascis and Dinosaur Jr. by commenting! Love to hear your thoughts!

The bottom right pedal is a custom pedal built by Jim Roth formerly of Built to Spill. One side is a Rangemaster clone and the other is a MK 1 Tonebender clone.
The wah is a Teese RMC3 Wah

I don’t think the tuner is chopped, I think it’s the Boss TU-3S, a smaller version of the tuner.
