Pedal Line Friday – 8/28 – Jimmy Rombold

Today’s Pedal Line Friday submission is from Jimmy Rombold: Guitarist for Blinded By Visions and owner at Dirty Vision FX. If you have a pedal line (doesn’t have to be in a board) for your rig, please email me a photo, bio, description of pedals and routing to pedalline@nulleffectsbay.com. Every Friday I’ll showcase a pedal line submission. Make sure you include any links to your band or music page.

Pedal descriptions:

DVFX Minion is a dirty boost. adds boost and harmonics at low level and turns into a light fuzz at high levels.

Zoom MS100BT multi fx pedal that is hyper quiet and you can add fx via bluetooth from your phone. FX are amazingly good and new fx are available in the Zoom store regularly….killer all around pedal. Has amp models as well as tons of pedals and other fx

Epitome, Micro Pog, Electric Mistress and Holy grail with the ability to change signal chain and how it responds. alternat mode puts pog fx on the tails of the reverb. Killer versatile pedal!!

DVFX Phazer based on Rick Holt’s Frequency Central Phaser. Amazing tweakabilty with Speed, Range, Width, Regeneration and shape knobs with internal bias control. Smooth phaser to crazy sawtooth alien lunacy!!

DVFX Triple Modulation Tremolo, Tap tempo Delay and Reverb….a great do all pedal. Delays are analogue as is the reverb even though a digital brick is used as the digital reverb is mixed with the analogue signal.

Boss NS2 My favorite noise reduction pedal unit to date.

DVFX Bare Bones is a OD/Distortion unit with a vintage diode switch to go from silicone to germanium 270’s. Old tube amp flavor.

DVFX Rat with Brigg’s mod. Standard Rat with LM308 chip. The mod is a clipping switch. From hairy Rat to raoring lion. Great versatile rat alternative

DVFX Little Dragon Slayer a fuzz face SORT OF circuit with diode clipping. Ferocious and LOUD!!

DVFX Medic Boost based on a EQD Speaker Cranker. Modded with new transistor and a diode swap. Clean boost with attitude until about half a turn of the gain knob then some hair gets added.

DVFX Feedback Looper simple design you can punch in or out the Triple Mod or add the meathead and flick the feedback switch to get a wall of crazy.

DVFX Muff Killer with vintage mod. A modified muff circuit. High gain lower noise and great range with an added diode switch to change the final gain stage to a more mellow germanium gain with a lot less fizz.

DVFX Tube Screamer minus the tone section. I just modded the the caps to get a full round sound. With no tone section sucking power it is more aggressive in volume and gain.

DVFX Chaos is based on a Mountain Man Megolith. I swapped out some transistors and changed hfe’s and changed some cap values to make it more guitar friendly. This is a monster of a pedal. Can use it on bass or guitar.

DVFX Muff Killer Just a modified muff circuit with internal diode switching. There are 1n60’s, 1n4148, 1n270/1n34’s, 3mm red LED, BAT41 and 1n4001 diodes available in any combination

DVFX Anarchy is a tweaked out Rockett WTF. kind of a really cool pedal with NPN and PNP tranny’s. Tweak the chaos knob and you can go from OD to sputtering fuzz mess

DVFX Terminal Volganium is a hybrid Krank distortus maximus and a Protone body Rot II High gain Metal but will wind back to gritty bluesy tones

DVFX Multi Boost.…a Soulsonic 4 banger with some tweaks. it is a Mosfet, Opamp, Jfet and Rangemaster boost all switchable to be on or off. Amazing tones in this thing!!! combine 2 or 3 or all four!!!

EHX Crying tone, Killer wah with no moving parts and can be programmed to do square wave, Treble boost or cocked wah. Standard wah is on par with a cry baby but lacks the mojo of the higher end wahs like the Bonamassa or Clyde

A well written and informative article. Thanks for the great write up. It will also work with bass, treble, reverb volume, repeat rate, intensity, echo vloume and so on.
