The Fulltone OCD is a OD that you see on a lot of boards for sure. I’ve been a fan of Fulltone for years. I played the ’69 Fuzz and the Clyde Standard, and are both top pedals… not to mention the Fulldrive 2. Anyway, I figured a few of you out there were interested in what the OCD (AKA Obssessive Compulsive Drive) was all about that might not have played or heard a demo, and I came across this nice one this morning by Brian Lynch.
As you can hear, it’s a nice sounding pedal. Here is the official description of the Fulltone OCD:
The Fulltone OCD—Obsessive Compulsive Drive—overdrive pedal packs classic OD tones into a compact pedal with simple, no-fuss operation. From heavy crunch rich with overtones and feedback to spanky cleans, the OCD delivers the sounds of a great tube amp, as sell as the same sensitivity and response to your playing style.
Along with standard Volume, Drive, and Tone controls, the OCD’s HP/LP (High Peak/Low Peak) switch takes the pedal from a clean boost to manic, sustain-laden distortion. True bypass switching.
The Fulltone OCD is available for $127.20 at Amazon.com. If you own or have played an Fulltone OCD, please let us know what you think by commenting below! Your thoughts/opinions are super important!!

I love my OCD — it’s one of the few pedals I’ve bought twice! I had to throw my first one in on a deal to make a trade for an amp I wanted. After the trade went down I immediately picked up another. I love Fulltone pedals, especially this one.

The demo starts with a dirty amp sound (vs. clean) so we really only hear how the OCD intensifies that sound. A better demo would be to use a clean amp setting so that any and all overdrive comes exclusively from the pedal. That would show us exactly what the pedal can do. After having shown that then you can dirty up the amp and do the demo as it is above. But without showing both settings you only given half of the story.

The OCD is THE pedal to own. From moist boost to a fire breathing monster, the OCD offers this from your volume knob. I have two in front of a Mesa Recto Mini – heaven. An OCD should come as a standard accessory when purchasing a Gibson or American Fender. It is a right of passage: first kiss, first beer, first OCD.

I’ve had mine for 3 years now and it is my favorite pedal. Sounds great, built like a tank and has a wide range of sounds. I’ve had a couple friends run right out and buy an OCD after playing mine.

I concur with the above comment that a distortion pedal demo should ALWAYS compare to a clean amp sound at some point. The OCD is a great pedal and very responsive to dynamics. I make it it a point to avoid having buffered pedals downstream as it detracts from the dynamics. My previous go to pedal was a Nobels ODR-S. The OCD gets about 95% of my distortion duties these days. The Nobels and a vintage RAT II split the other 5%.

I recently purchased an OCD, and it is a great, great pedal. Very dynamic, transparent, and easy to stack with other overdrive pedals.
