I know we just got over an awesome give away with the Heptode Deep Crunch, and here we are today… giving something else away! Today is a day where I wish I could enter and not give away this pedal. This give away is an EffectsBay exclusive where Bob Balch of PlayThisRiff.com and one of the guitarists of the band Fu Manchu is offering an awesome pedal to an EffectsBay.com reader out there. Bob has been a long time friend of EffectsBay, and I’ve been re-tweeting his daily free lessons for a while now. When Bob is not rocking in Fu Manchu he works very hard providing unbelievably awesome content for his site – PlayThisRiff.com.
Play This Riff is a site where you can learn to play many riffs/leads instructed by the actual artists who wrote them!!! So if you want to learn some Fu Manchu, Bob Balch will show you various songs via videos as well as providing tabs. Want to learn some Clutch, Tim Sult will walk you through some riffs. How about some Dinosaur Jr? Well, Mr. J. Mascis will show you the way. The concept is pretty damn hot! The site has hours and hours of videos from various bands. Normally, the bands lean towards the heavier side of things (Black Flag, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Monster Magnet, etc). All of this is available for only $9.99/mo, which is insanely cheap in my opinion. For more information, check out PlayThisRiff.com
Like I mentioned above, Bob also sends out free videos from the collection on a daily basis. If you want to get a sampling of what’s out there, be sure to follow Play This Riff on Twitter and like them on Facebook to be sure to catch those videos when they come out.
So, I’ve been a fan of Fu Manchu for a long long time. I was working in a sweaty Italian restaurant busting out some chicken picatta when I heard some sweet riffage coming from the dish pit. I had to ask, “what the hell is this?”, and the dishwasher stated it was some Fu f**** Manchu, and I was sold and wanted all I could get after that. Fu Manchu basically was the soundtrack for my life in the summer ’98. Around 2001 or so I actually was in a Fu Manchu tribute band (played 2 shows) with Jimmy (EffectsBay demo madman) called Tra-Bang. Don’t ask how that name came about.
Bob, has been using a Creepy Fingers Creepy Face for a while on his board, and now he’s giving away a Creepy Fingers Silicon Fuzz Face. So the Fu Manchu connection continues. Brad Davis who owns Creepy Fingers – and is making some extremely kick ass pedals, is the bass player of Fu Manchu. Please check out Creepy Fingers for their other pedals – amazing stuff. You can find them on Facebook and MySpace.
Here are the details of this particular Creepy Fingers pedal:
This is a classic Fuzz Face circuit with BC108C transistors, Mullard tropical fish output capacitor, and Philips electrolytic caps. Wired in true point to point and biased for maximum clean up with the guitar’s volume control. Additional oscillation and radio frequency suppression. True hardwire bypass, switchcraft jacks, metallic gold finish, battery eliminator jack, and white led indicator. Handmade by Brad Davis from Creepy Fingers Effects.
For this give away Bob Balch and Brad Davis both signed the inside of the back plate. As you can see, it’s hot off the press (8/8/12). Solder connections still might be warm to the touch!
Okay, how do you win Creepy Fingers Silicon Fuzz Face? Read below:

Yes, that means international! Also, one entry per person. Please read that last sentence again… “one†“entry†“per†“personâ€.
The submission form will be open until August 30th (Thursday) 12PM MST.
On top of that, Bob is going to sweeten the deal. If you ‘LIKE’ PlayThisRiff on Facebook and you’re selected as the winner, he’ll throw in a extra prize – A signed Fu Manchu vinyl pictured below!
